100 Days Smarter
At Charles Olbon School, first grade students celebrated 100 days with a fashion show, where they showed off their t-shirt creations to mark the occasion while the kindergarten students, dressed up as if they were 100 years old, watched.
Parents and students were incredibly enthusiastic about celebrating the 100th day of school and the Week of Kindness at School 1 and the ECC. Students practiced what it is to be kind to their peers while celebrating the theme through the various eras. We had students dress up in their 70s, 80s, 90s, and even 00s gear. During this week, we also had the 100th day of school where students had the option to dress like they were 100 years old and take part in a mini-parade.
Saluting Achievements
Memorial Middle School held an achievement assembly last Friday to salute the students who made first and second honors for marking period two of the 2024-2025 school year.
House Event Fun
Memorial Middle School held a fun House Day event last Friday. At the starting pep rally, the house songs were announced: Water - “How Far I’ll Go” - Moana; Fire - “Firework” - Katy Perry; Earth - “Hakuna Matata” - Lion King; and Wind - “Airplanes” - B.o.B. Students then rotated through four stations to work to earn points for their house. They played ga-ga ball in the gym, over-under in the cafeteria, Boggle in the classrooms, and did Black History Month trivia.
With Appreciation
Last week was National School Counselor Week. Guidance Counselor Mrs. Williams at Beatrice Gilmore School enjoyed receiving thank you from students.
Bookworms
The Beatrice Gilmore School Home & School Association hosted a Scholastic Book Fair last week, where students could come shop for all the latest and greatest reads as well as accessories such as notepads, pens, erasers, and lots of other fun items.
Classroom Campfire
Students in Ms. Mohamed and Mrs. Reisman's fourth grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School are learning all about the Lenape. Students learned how the Lenape communicate with symbols and pictures for their writing. Students worked hard to draw a story to depict the ways of the Native American tribe. Last Friday, students shared their stories around their classroom campfire.
Guest Readers
Mrs. DiBona's third grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School was so excited to welcome their new mystery readers. They really enjoyed listening to the read-alouds and taking part in the fun activities with Eliana's mom and with Jacob’s mom when they visited the class over the past two weeks.
Prepping for Shrek
Memorial Middle School play director Mrs. Yesonosky, assistant director Ms. Dorney, and musical director Mr. Schaefer have been hard at work every day after school, along with the cast and crew members for this year's musical, Shrek the Musical, Jr, which will be performed March 6, 7 and 8.
