For Laudato Si’ Week 2025
Loving God,
You created all people to be equal.
Yet, throughout the world many are struggling
to find even the most basic things they need:
food, water, safety and education.
Many poor countries owe enormous debts to wealthy countries and companies,
and millions of vulnerable people suffer as a result.
In this Year of Jubilee,
when we are called to be pilgrims of hope,
we pray for greater justice.
We pray that we might do our part
to challenge unjust situations that
cause harm to so many of your people around the world.
May we work to ensure that earth is truly a common home for everyone,
shared by all and enjoyed in security.
May we be instruments of your peace
and builders of the kingdom
of which Jesus spoke in your name.
Amen

Laudato Si’ – 10 Year Anniversary
Each year in May, we celebrate Laudato Si’ Week to reflect on the important message Pope Francis shared about caring for the Earth and those in need. Laudato Si’, which means “Praise be to you,” calls us to take responsibility for our common home and to respond to “the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.”
In 2025, we mark a special milestone—the 10th anniversary of this powerful encyclical. Its message continues to guide and inspire us in our daily lives, reminding us to live with compassion, simplicity, and care for creation.
Over the past few weeks, teachers have been exploring Laudato Si’ with students during Religious Education lessons. This year, Laudato Si’ Week coincides with the Church’s Year of Jubilee—a time of renewal and hope, where we are called to journey together, like pilgrims walking in faith.
Grandparents Morning – Save the Date!
My parents have always been a steady source of love and wisdom in my life. Watching them become grandparents has been a joy—their patience, kindness, and pride in my boys are a blessing. Over the years, I’ve seen their ‘rose-coloured glasses’ in full effect, proudly noticing only the best in their grandchildren.
We are excited to honour the incredible grandparents in our community with Grandparents Morning!
📅 Date: Thursday 31 July
⛪ 9:00am: Mass at the Church
🏫 Followed by: Classroom activities and a delicious morning tea
To help us with catering, please RSVP to secure your place. We look forward to welcoming our special guests for this celebration!
Kindy’s Visit to the Principal’s Office
I was delighted to intercept our Kindy students on their school walkabout—maps in hand and eyes peeled for clues! Although my office didn’t hold any great mysteries, they thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the chairs, having a look around, and, of course, spotting Daisy’s water bowl. I can’t wait to hear more about their adventures next week!
Pupil-Free Day – This Friday
A reminder that this Friday is a pupil-free day as our staff participate in a Professional Learning Day. The focus will be on deepening our understanding of the Mercy Charisms, supporting us in continuing to embed these values into the mission and symbols of St Denis School.
Mid-Year Reports – In Progress
Teachers are currently gathering data and evidence to prepare mid-year reports. Before these are finalised, they will reach out to families to discuss any areas of concern.
We are incredibly proud of how hard our students have been working. These reports will not only celebrate their achievements but also outline the goals they’ll be working towards in the second half of the year.
Playground Update – Thank You for Your Support
We are eagerly awaiting final funding confirmation from David Michael MLA and the WA Labor Government and are hopeful that construction on our new playground will begin in Term 3.
This exciting project has been years in the making, and we are truly grateful for the generous support from our Parents & Friends (P&F) Association, whose contributions are helping to make this dream a reality.
In the meantime, the P&F fundraising events have already helped purchase new outdoor equipment, books, musical instruments, and science kits—all of which are being enthusiastically used across the school. Thank you for continuing to support vibrant and engaging learning experiences for our students!
Kindy Enrolments – Looking Ahead
We’re pleased to announce that Pre-Kindy and Kindy enrolments for 2026 have now been finalised.
In 2026 our Pre-Kindy program will run Wednesdays and Fridays, offering a nurturing, play-based start to school life.
We are now accepting 2027 enrolments for both Kindy and Pre-Kindy. While interviews will begin early next year, we encourage families—especially those with siblings already at St Denis—to register their interest as soon as possible.
Early registration helps us with planning and ensures places are available for our existing families. Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Late Arrival Procedure
Just a friendly reminder to all parents and caregivers: if your child arrives at school after the 8:40am bell, please ensure they go directly to the school office. They must be signed in and collect a late slip before heading to class. This process helps us keep accurate attendance records and ensures your child is safely accounted for. Thank you for your cooperation!
Warm regards,
Sarah Potts
