After ten school days in February, the standings heading into tomorrow are:

2. K/1 (94.17%)
3. 1/2 (93.13%)
4. 5th (92.35%)
5. 3rd (90.66%)

Let's all work together to get students to class all five days this week to ensure an exciting, down-to-the-wire finish! As a reminder, the winning class will receive a pizza and ice-cream party, and extra long lunch, on Friday, March 7.

Attendance this past week was 94.65%, which is up significantly (again!) from 92.68% the previous week. Great news!

After 112 school days, cumulative attendance is up to 93.32%, and cumulative Chronic Absenteeism rate (10% or more of cumulative school days missed) has started to drop. I anticipate that we will be back to a cumulative percentage in the low-to-mid teens very soon. Let's keep at this awesome work!

Welcome back! I hope that your family and you have enjoyed a relaxing break from school. Tomorrow, we start our last week of February and then head right into the busy and exciting month of March. Thank you all for your continued support of the vibrant Vivian Banks Charter School community.

Read Across America Week is coming soon in early March! Ms. Amerson is planning all sorts of fun throughout the week for VBCS students. If you would like to donate books that will be given out to students, please see Ms. Nancy or Ms. Amerson!

On Saturday, March 8 we will host a very special and unique community event: the grand opening and ribbon-cutting of the Pala Community Garden! Our vision for the garden is simple; we desire to create a vibrantt usable space for the entire community in which to grow and harvest fresh food. Our VBCS Parent Club and Ms. Sanchez have been hard at work to prepare for this day. We look forward to welcoming the entire community out to the garden to visit, share food (I will be on the grill!), till the ground, build some raised garden beds, plant some trees, and to be part of the grassroots movement of a community working together to benefit one another! Please plan to join us on Saturday 3/8 from 8AM-12PM. Everyone is invited!
