The Weekly SharkBeat!
SJHS Weekly Parent Newsletter - April 14, 2024
The countdown is on! Students are counting down the days to summer. With 37 days left in the school year, please encourage your child to be present and on time, keep up with their assignments, if attendance needs to be made up, do it now, and continue to give their best. Seniors have some important dates coming up before graduation, so be sure to listen to announcements and check emails.
Juniors, seniors, and guest had fun at the prom, dancing the night away. It is always a favorite night seeing the students dressed in tuxedos and formal dresses. Everyone looked dashing!
This week we celebrate with our spring athletes. All the teams are doing a great job, bringing home big wins. I would like to commend the JV baseball and JV golf on an undefeated season thus far. We hope you will make plans to come out and see these student athletes in action.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Weekly Sharkbeat Newsletter. Please check the school website and Facebook page for additional updates and information. Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Shark family. Have a great evening, keep swimming forward, and as always, Go SHARKS!

A Note From Guidance
Seniors and parents:
Senior students - It is almost the end of your senior year, and we need some information from you about your plans after graduation. Please click on the link below and complete the form so that we will know where we need to send your final transcript. Students have to be logged into their google account to complete this form.
We are continuing to get scholarships for students to complete. Please use the link below to find out what you can apply for.
As we are preparing for the end of the year, we need to compile a list of all seniors who have been awarded scholarships and/or money from the colleges or organizations. We do this to calculate the grand total of scholarship earnings from SJH graduating class.
Please use the following google form: https://forms.gle/BXZ2T3QdYmZu2fC87
You will need to complete this form MULTIPLE TIMES for each scholarship that you have been awarded. Please report EVERY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED OR MONEY OFFERED FROM COLLEGES (even if you do not plan on attending that college).
DO NOT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Money received from FAFSA: Pell Grant, SC Grant, Financial Aid, Life, Hope or Palmetto Fellows Scholarship
Underclassmen and parents:
We are getting excited about next school year already and have begun our prep for schedules. In the next few weeks we will be allowing students to view their course requests for next school year and make adjustments if they would like. We will email both students and parents when this is taking place with instructions on making adjustments.
Testing look ahead:
EOC April 24 English 2 Field Test
May 16 English 2 Writing
May 23 US History
May 24 Biology
May 28 English 2 Reading

SENIOR SUPPLIES
Seniors are anxiously awaiting graduation supplies after ordering back in October. Supplies will be delivered on April 24th during advisory. Please remind your student to attend advisory on this day.
Senator Lindsey Graham requests your help inviting South Carolina students to attend the 2024 Academy Day. Academy Day is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about academy nominations, talk with representatives from various military academies, form new connections, and speak to current cadets and midshipmen.
Graduation 2024
Students graduating are guaranteed 6 tickets. Extra tickets may be requested by contacting the school. Additional tickets are not guaranteed but simply a request. We try to accommodate everyone the best as possible. We will not know how many extra tickets we will have until senior grades are finalized. Students will get tickets the day of graduation practice at the HTC center. We try to accommodate their needs but we need to be fair to everyone. Simply call the school, 843-650-5600, and speak to the receptionist to request extra tickets. Tickets should be requested under the students' name.

Early Pick Up
If you plan to pick your student up early or your student will drive off campus early, please send a note with your student to be turned in before school starts at the Welcome Desk. We will verify the note and give your student a pass to meet you or leave at the appropriate time. Sending a note cuts down on class interruptions. Unfortunately, we cannot accept phone calls or emails to dismiss students. We appreciate your help.
Driving On Campus
Parents should always use the front entrance to pick students up for early dismissal. Additionally, we ask that you follow the traffic pattern set forth by SJH. Please do not move cones, go around cones or make unsafe decisions to shorten your time on campus. Please help us keep our students safe by following our traffic patterns.
