On Monday, through the efforts of many of our members through the spring and summer and your TVEA Budget Ad-Hoc and TVEA Bargaining teams, TVEA was able to close bargaining for compensation for the 2023-2024 school year.
The compensation agreement is not final though.
Tomorrow, on Tuesday, September 26th, the TVUSD Governing Board of TVUSD meets and the Tentative Agreement between TVUSD and TVEA is on the agenda for approval.
Support your settlement on Tuesday! Wear your blue shirts Tuesday at your sites and at the board meeting.
Let it be known that this Tentative Agreement should pass. There is NO financial reason why TVUSD should not approve this compensation package. The settlement agreement is within the Cost Of Living Adjustment increase passed by the state of CA to local educational institutions such as TVUSD.
At the same time, our brothers and sisters at CSEA continue to fight for a livable wage to attract and retain the quality manpower to keep our facilities and classrooms functioning. Their struggle is our struggle. There are currently many open positions that TVUSD has had trouble filling. In part because of the rate of pay, the lack of jobs offering full time employment with benefits that creates conditions for individuals to seek employment elsewhere to meet the financial needs of their families. Our struggle continues until our students have access to full educational opportunities, engagement, and facilities without breaking the backs of CSEA members.
CSEA is picketing at TVUSD Monday and Tuesday, let CSEA staff know you support them in their struggle for fair wages.
Also on the agenda is increased compensation for Sub Pay. TVUSD is towards the bottom of pay in the valley for substitute teachers. To attract these individuals and encourage them to sub in our district and ease the sub shortage, sub pay needs to be addressed.
