A Message from Principal Amy Senethavilay
Pleasant View Families,
I know this was a bit of a rough start for our families, just as it was for our staff. But here is what I want to share with you and the message I sent to them. I am SO incredibly proud of each and every member of this staff, and I am blessed to be a part of this amazing team of educators. They have taken on the challenges and consistent changes with grace, compassion, and determination. They have rallied around one another, lifted each other up, supported each other through those struggles, and continued to communicate our care for our families. They have shifted and flexed like no other team I have witnesses, while remaining professional and poise. I am privileged to work side by side with each of these individuals that make up the team at Pleasant View.
And yet it does not stop there! Pleasant View Families, you have continued to smile, to share your own positive spin on the changes, and you have given the staff many reasons to smile and feel proud of the long hours and tireless work they are doing. Thank you for loving on this staff, for sharing your eagerness to be a part of this community, and for flexing with us as we navigate the changes. Thank you for working through the tech issues and giving grace to our teachers when things didn't always work.
We will weather this storm together and come out stronger because we are #PronghornStrong!
All my best,
Amy Senethavilay
Second Week of School Is Yellow
CDH just put Ada County schools in YELLOW status, this means we plan to go to an alternate day schedule on Sept. 14 with Pre K and K in session every day. This schedule follows a secondary schedule with students coming every other day. (Students do not report the same day each week. You will need to pay attention to the team day as to whether your child is in school or not. )
The TEAM calendar has been updated as of 9/11/2020. Please use the links to access the updated information.
We are planning for the following "First Day Arrival" within our Safety Plan:
- Students will be greeted by staff and escorted to their classroom line up location near their hallway door. We will take students into the building a bit early to help guide the process.
- Students will be asked to wash their hands upon entering the room and directed where to place items.
- Teachers will build in mask breaks within the classroom
- Lunch will be in the classrooms at this point. We may reevaluate as we move farther into the month and monitor the status.
- Lunch recess will be before lunch. Students will then line up with masks on to enter the building, wash hands and eat lunch at their desk.
Recess:
- Grade-levels will be assigned specific locations on the playground at recess.
- Morning, lunch, and afternoon recesses will be staggered to ensure that student cohorts are limited to their grade-level or classroom in order to reduce exposure to broader groups of students.
- The time frames for recesses will be expanded to allow the school to limit the number of grades/classes on the playground at a given time.
- Physical distancing will be promoted, thus allowing students to NOT to have to wear masks when at recess. The exception will be for students who are in close proximity while on the play structures.
- Play structures will be sanitized daily on a schedule determined by the West Ada Maintenance Department.
NURSE CARRIE and MEDICATION
My name is Carrie Allumbaugh, and I'm so excited to join the staff at Pleasant View. I have been an elementary nurse in the district for the last four years and prior to that I worked in an Ears, Nose and Throat Clinic/Surgery Center for 22 years.
If you have a child with a medical condition that will require nursing services or medications to be given at school, please see the attached forms. Medication must have child's name and the original prescription. Also, please make sure the medication is not expired.
You are welcome to drop off items to the front office (WITH THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK) after dropping off your child at the school, or you may make other arrangements to meet with me to make sure medication makes it way to the nurse's office and not in a backpack.
The attached forms will need to be filled out and signed when you drop any medications off at the school. If you have any questions, please email me at allumbaugh.carrie@westada.org or call me at the school

Free & Reduced Lunch Program Application is Now Online!
Free & Reduced Lunch Program Application is Now Online!
We need only one application for all children in your household that attend school in West Ada School District. Click HERE to apply.
Eligibility for free or reduced priced school meals benefits is based on any one of these three things:
- your total household income and size in the month the application is filled out, or the month before, or
- your child's individual status as foster, homeless, migrant, or runaway, or
- participation in an assistance program by any member of your household
If you received a letter from the school saying that your children were automatically approved (directly certified) for free meals for the 2020-2021 school year because someone in your household participates in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), then you do not need to submit an application.

Visitors On Campus
If there is a reason for you to be in the building or on the grounds, you will need to check in with the office. The district uses the Raptor System for all visitors. If you have already entered your information into the Raptor System in past years, please feel free to scan your Driver's License to receive your visitors pass. If you have not completed this process, you will need to see the front office for support the first time you visit.
Thank you for your help with keeping our students safe.
