WMMS Tiger Times
May 2024
It's hard to believe we have 11 days of school left! Last month we enjoyed the solar eclipse, the 6th grade attended the Literature Festival, and we had our 7th and 8th grade spring dance which was well attended and the students had a great time. We've finished up a very successful track season and will finish MAP testing tomorrow. This month we'll look forward to band and choir concerts, the 8th grade promotion parade and of course the last day of school activities!
Sincerely,
Dr. Brandi VanDelft
WMMS Principal
WMMS Track and Field 2024
Our track teams closed out the season yesterday with big wins at our home meet. The girls team won by 54 points and the boys won by 44. We also set another school record with Briggs Dent, Conor Kelly, Brandon Greathouse, and Blake Nesbitt running the 4x100 in 49.15 seconds! The 2024 season was excellent in every way with over 90 students participating on our NCMC Conference Championship teams!

District Honor Choirs
Over two Mondays this month, WMMS sent 26 students to our District Honor Choirs - one for 6th Grade and one for 7th/8th Grade. These students have been practicing weekly with Choraliers before school in order to learn the music. They then attended a full day of rehearsal with other singers across our district, followed by the evening concert! Great job singers and sponsors Mr. Kennard, Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Bolle.
8th Grade Promotion Parade
Parents/guardians will drive their students in the parade either in a truck or car, trailers are welcome. We will also have trucks provided by Kirksville Motor Company for any student that needs a ride. All family members are encouraged to line up along the sidewalks and make signs and cheer on the students. Students may create themed "parade floats" including signs, etc. All 8th graders will have ice cream at Spainhower following the parade.
The assembly on May 23rd is an informal event where each student will receive a promotion certificate presented by their RTI teacher. Seating is limited and we ask that parents/guardians and siblings only be in attendance. Everyone is welcome to attend the Promotion Parade to celebrate our 8th graders.
The doors will open at 8:15 to get everyone seated in the auditorium. Pictures may be taken on the stage afterward.
This is for any interested 7th and 8th grader.
