May 23 - PHS Senior Academic Awards Night, 7:00 PM, PHS Auditorium
May 24 - Schnecksville Elementary Donation to the New Giraffe Exhibit at the Lehigh Valley Zoo, 9:15 AM. Doreen Carl from the Lehigh Valley Zoo will be on hand to receive the funds that were donated by students during the 5th Grade Jingles for Giraffes campaign that was spearheaded by students who recently learned about the new exhibit. Principal Karen Dopera will be dressed as a giraffe to celebrate this awesome 5th Grade culminating event.
May 25 - Parkland High School Athletic Award and Hall of Fame Ceremony, 5:00 PM, PHS Auditorium.
May 27 - Annual School Volunteer Appreciation Lunch, LCTI, 12:30 PM.
May 31 - Academic Scholarship Recognition Ceremony, PHS Auditorium, 3:30 PM. Seniors who are receiving a 25% or more scholarship will be recognized.
June 4 - Senior Citizens Social at Orefield Middle School, 6-9 PM. The OMS Builders Club will host the seniors for music, dancing and a basket raffle. This event is FREE and open to all Parkland senior citizens. Call 610-351-5900 x41234 to RSVP.

Da Vinci Science Center Gala Awards
SMS student Vidhya Annem received the "Young Scientist Award" sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific at the 2016 Da Vinci Science center Gala event past weekend. She is pictured above. PHS student Yogeshwar Velingker won a Student Excellence Award. He was also just appointed to the 2016 US Physics National Team of only 20 students nationwide. Read more here:

Parkland has 3 Athletes eligible to become the 2016 Coordinated Health Athlete of the Year: Jake Stengel, Regan Allsop and Nick Kshatri
The winner gets a $10,000 scholarship. Vote at http://aoty2016.coordinatedhealth.com/

Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition
Parkland High School, Springhouse Middle School and Orefield Middle School students participated in the Penn State Junior Academy State Competition. The results of the competition are as follows:
Parkland High School:
Participants = 32
Perfect Score= 3
First Place= 16
Second Place= 12
Special Awards- Ojas Patel recieved 2 scholarships from Penn State / Aryaman Khandewal won A Memorial Award for his project in Biochemistry.
Springhouse Middle School:
Participants=57
Perfect Score Winners=6
First Place=36
Second Place=15
Special Award=Vidhyasai Annem received the PJAS Directors Award.
Orefield Middle School:
Participants=33
Perfect Score=3
First Place=15
Second Place=15
Special Award-Zia Reed, 8th Grader won the best Zoology project in the state.

The PJAS Coordinator Science Team of Teacher Advisors are: Christopher Gahman, PHS, Daniel Christman, SMS, and Dianne Caspersen, OMS.
Leo Club's 4th Annual Duck Race took placed in the wind, hail and the rain last weekend at Covered Bridge Park. Thanks to everyone's support, they launched 672 ducks and will be able to donate $5400 to Angel 34, a local charity that supports Lehigh Valley families with children who are battling cancer.
With their win over Bethlehem Catholic last night, the Parkland Softball Team captured the EPC Softball Championship. They join Boys' Tennis, Girls' Lacrosse, and Boys' Volleyball as EPC Spring Champions.
