Welcome Kindergarteners and Preschoolers!
Hello North Families,
This week we welcomed our kindergarteners and preschoolers to North Elementary. Even our new friends coming to school for the first time ever did an amazing job! Parents and caretakers should be proud of how well all students did during our first fire drill on Thursday morning. They exited the building so quickly, safely, and quietly!

Aspen Back to School Gateway

Back to School Night
Our Back to School Night is this Wednesday, September 11 from 5:30-7:30 PM. This is an adult only event so that parents/guardians can focus on learning about our school and our classrooms. We have changed our model slightly this year and will be foregoing the whole-school opening session in the gym. Instead you'll have the opportunity to talk to the principals and other support staff during flexible times between sessions and/or during unneeded classroom presentation blocks in your individual schedule.
Classroom teacher sessions will be held at the following times to allow families with multiple children to attend a presentation from each child's teacher (sessions are interchangeable so you will get the same content whether you sit in on session 1, 2, or 3 with a particular teacher):
- Session 1: 5:40-6:05
- Session 2: 6:15-6:40
- Session 3: 6:55-7:20
During the buffer times, we encourage you to come to the main hallway to chat with Mrs. Woodcock and me, our special education facilitator, our SEL staff, our related service providers (speech, OT, BCBA), and our interventionists. You can also find the specials teachers (Art, Music, PE, Technology) in the gym hallway.
Insect Treatment
On Monday, September 9, our Director of Buildings and Grounds has arranged for a treatment from our pest management service to mitigate an issue with insects. This spray is non-toxic. I have attached three notices/informational sheets for your reference.
Staff Member of the Week
Brittney Bettencourt
Mrs. Bettencourt is a new member of our preschool teaching team. She is originally from Wareham and just got married on August 11th. She has been teaching since 2018 and recently went back to BSU to get her Masters of Education in Early Childhood. On the weekends she likes to spend time with her family, go fishing, and play board games. Mrs. Bettencourt loves coffee, cheeseburgers, sunflowers, and math!
Safety Reminders
- Please remember that all snacks should be nut free to protect our students with allergies in our classrooms. This includes peanut butter and Nutella. (These foods are OK at lunchtime since our students have access to allergen free tables)
- If students bring a football in for recess, it should be a soft, Nerf-type football to prevent injury.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!

Logos will be placed on the back of the T-Shirts worn by students and staff on the day of the run and other events throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to support our school and advertise for your business at the same time!

North spirit wear will be available in October or November. More information to come!

Students with active vomiting, diarrhea, open rashes, crusty/inflamed eyes, and/or temperature > 100 are asked to remain home from school.
Students may return from school when their temperature is < 100 for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
Illness Specific:
Strep: Must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school. Students need a note to return.
Pink eye: Must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.

Vomiting/Diarrhea: May return when tolerating good amounts of food/water and no vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours
Please do not send medication to school in your child’s backpack. Anything with an active ingredient is designated a medicine in school.
