Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
February 28, 2025

Dear Families,
We had another wonderful week at Pleasant Valley! Below are some snapshots highlighting the joy and learning that took place across our school. First grade students met to learn about Ms. DiCioccio's chick project as part of their science unit on plants and animals traits. They were very "egg-cited"! In celebration of Earth Day, Ms. Devlin's class cleaned up the outside surroundings of PV. In Ms. Drake's class, students wrote about what they want to be when they grow up. They came to school dressed up as their profession and shared their published books with parents.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Giordano, along with all of our amazing community members and parent volunteers, for helping make Bike Week such a great success. Your support means so much to us!
As we look ahead, we have several exciting events coming up—and we’re calling on all our PV guardians (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends) to help us make these events truly special.
📚 Book Fair
Our Book Fair is next week, Tuesday, April 29th-May2nd. Please see below to set up an eWallet for your student. We also invite you to join us for Family Night Ice Cream Social on the final day of the fair, May 2nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.🍦
🎉 Staff Appreciation Week – Starting May 9
We’re planning a grand celebration for our incredible staff—and we need your help! With over 150 staff members at PV, we want to show just how much we appreciate them. The PTO Executive Board has planned a fantastic week, but we need volunteers to help with setup, food donations, and more.
If you’re interested in volunteering during Staff Appreciation Week, please reach out to Purva directly.
📣 PTO Opportunities
The PTO is currently seeking a Secretary and Vice President for the 2025–2026 school year. If you're interested in helping make a difference in our school community, please email pto@pvpto.org or abrown@swindsor.k12.ct.us for more information.
📝 State Assessments Begin Monday (Grades 3–5)
Our students in Grades 3–5 begin state testing on Monday. We ask for your partnership in helping this be a calm and positive experience for them. These assessments are an opportunity for students to show what they’ve learned throughout the year—but we also recognize that they can be stressful.
You can help by:
Ensuring your child gets a good night’s sleep
Providing a healthy breakfast
Offering encouragement and belief in their abilities
Thank you for being such a supportive part of our PV family. Wishing you a restful and joyful weekend!
Warmly,
Esther & Jenna
