August: Back-to-School 2024-2025
From the Principal
As the summer days begin to wane and the excitement of a new school year approaches, I want to extend a warm welcome to all our returning families and a heartfelt greeting to those joining the Skyline Elementary community for the first time. Our mission at Skyline Elementary is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where all students are empowered to explore, learn, and lead with kindness. As we prepare for another fantastic year, I’d like to share some important information and thoughts with you.
Embracing a New School Year Together
The beginning of a new school year is a time of excitement and anticipation. It’s a season filled with the promise of new friendships, discoveries, and opportunities for growth. Alongside the excitement, it’s natural to feel a bit of uncertainty. Whether your child is entering kindergarten or advancing to a higher grade, change can be both thrilling and challenging. Please know that our dedicated staff is here to support you and your children every step of the way.
The Power of Partnership
At Skyline Elementary, we believe in the power of collaboration between home and school. Your involvement and engagement in your child’s education are crucial to their success. Together, we can create an environment that fosters curiosity, resilience, leading, and a love for learning. Here are a few ways we can work together:
Open Communication: Keep the lines of communication open. Whether through emails or phone calls, we encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Active Participation: Participate in school events, volunteer opportunities, and parent-teacher conferences. Your presence makes a significant difference and shows your child that their education is a priority. I am grateful that our school community has a tremendous amount of family participation.
Support at Home: Encourage a routine that includes adequate sleep, a healthy breakfast, and time for homework. Create a positive learning environment at home where curiosity and questions are welcomed.
Exciting Updates and Events
We have many exciting events and updates to share with you:
NEW Student Family Orientation: Come and learn more about our school on Wednesday, August 21st from 3pm-4:00pm.
Back-to-School Night: Join us on August 28th from 5pm-7pm for our annual Back-to-School Night. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, visit their classroom, and learn more about the upcoming year.

In Closing
As we embark on this new academic journey, let’s remember the incredible potential each day holds. Together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment where our children are not only learners but also leaders who act with kindness and compassion.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with exploration, growth, and success!
Warm regards,
Erik A. Olson

Student Drop Off & Pick Up
Drop off and pick up can be a stressful period for everyone! However, we want this experience to be efficient for everyone.
Bus: Buses will pick-up and drop-off in the front of our school building. For bus expectations please click here: Bus Expectations
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up:
Morning Drop Off: Parents are encouraged to drop and go in our parent-pick up zone located in the back of our school. Please note that the loop zone is not intended for parent parking. If you'd like to walk your child to the playground in the morning we respectfully ask that you park on Bob Olson Ln. and walk with your child.
Afternoon Pick-Up: This is perhaps the most challenging time due to the fact that a majority of our students are dismissed at the same time. Our goal is to keep students safe. We again request that if you are meeting your child on the playground that you park on Bob Olson Ln (not the pick-up loop) and walk to pick-up your child. If you are in the loop, this area is designated for pick-up and go.
Skyline PTO
Skyline PTO
Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is a school-based group that consists of parents, teachers, and school staff who work collaboratively to support the school and enhance the educational experience for students. The primary functions and activities of a PTO typically include:
Fostering Communication: Facilitating open lines of communication between parents, teachers, and school administration to ensure everyone is informed and involved in school activities and decisions.
Fundraising: Organizing various fundraising events and activities to raise money for school programs, equipment, supplies, and special projects that may not be covered by the school’s budget.
Supporting School Programs: Providing financial and volunteer support for educational programs, extracurricular activities, and school events, such as field trips, school plays, and more.
Enhancing the School Environment: Funding and organizing initiatives to improve school facilities and resources, such as playgrounds, libraries, and technology.
Building Community: Creating a sense of community and school spirit through social events and activities that encourage parent and family involvement, such as family fun nights, cultural festivals, and picnics.
Advocacy: Representing the interests of parents and students in discussions with school administration and local education authorities, advocating for improvements and changes that benefit the school community.
The ultimate goal of a PTO is to create a supportive and collaborative environment where parents and teachers work together to ensure the best possible educational experience for students.
