Wasco Weekly
THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK
September 15, 2023
Wasco Families,
This week’s Open House highlights an important message: We need you! The collaboration between parents and schools is an indicator of our collective success as a learning community.
Just like each of our students has unique ideas and talents to share, so do our parents! A HUGE thank you to Mr. Jason Kudabeck for building a ukulele rack for our music room. The rack displays a very exciting part of our music program- learning how to play instruments! Our new rack enables students to practice care and organization of our school materials. Thank you Mr. Kudabeck for donating your time and the materials to benefit our school for years to come!
Kind Regards,
Principal Brennan

Wasco Monthly Character Traits
Each month Wasco School engages in read alouds and activities that support the learning of our different Monthly Character Traits. At the end of each month, staff members are able to recognize students who demonstrate this trait in the classroom and across our building. These students receive a “Shout Out” in the morning announcements, a certificate of achievement as well as their photo taken for a bulletin board that hangs in our hallways. Students feel very proud of themselves and enjoy having their photo on the wall for all to see. Please share conversations with your child about the different character traits as they appear on our monthly calendar.
In August we spent time building our classroom communities and feelings of belonging. There were no recognitions for this first month as we were busy establishing routines and structures that support our learning environments. Rest assured that BELONGING will be a focus for the entire year as it relates to our District Strategic Plan. Later, in September, we will have an all-school Town Hall assembly that will focus on BELONGING.
For the month of September we will be focusing on RESPECT. Respect means that we treat others the way we wish to be treated and to care about their thoughts, feelings and opinions. We can show respect through our words and actions. Thank you in advance for supporting our monthly Character Traits at home.
The Parent Education Series is D303's way of empowering parents and guardians to support their children's academic, social, and emotional needs through a series of information sessions. Become informed on specialized topics, engage in two-way dialogue with speakers and fellow parents, and become a support resource for others. The sessions offered are based on feedback from our parents and may feature teachers and staff, community partners, or guests from afar who specialize in topics relevant to our District. Please click here for a list of our exciting upcoming sessions!
Attention 5th Grade Families! Choir Time!
Good Afternoon Wasco Families,
I am thrilled to announce the opportunity for your 5th grade student to join choir this year! This is an amazing opportunity for students to grow and develop their musicality and singing skills. The goal of our choir program is to offer a formal choral music opportunity to our students and to enrich their musical experience. We work on ensemble practice, team building, vocal technique, vocal health, unison and part-singing, all through a rich variety of vocal music repertoire. The choir program will run from September through May. If your 5th grader is interested, please see the attached letter with more information and register here. You can also find the information letter and registration link on your student's Music Schoology page. Students who are interested must be signed up by Sunday, September 24th. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, September 26th.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
Sincerely,
Miss Zima
