BEH Weekly Family Message
September 16th, 2024
Last Week in Review
Summary of the Week:
It was so much fun seeing so many grandparents show up for our Grandparent/Special Friends Day on Friday. It was great to connect as a group and talk about what we are working on at BEH, then have them get a chance to meet teachers and close out with some snacks and art projects with their grandchildren.
In addition to this fun day, we also were able to start working through our fall assessments and begin to get our academic support groups figured out. We are now beginning to dive deeper into the curriculum and are getting our classroom routines solidified.
Hopefully you have been able to check your students' backpacks each week, as we send home folders every Tuesday for families to review some graded work and the weekly classroom newsletter. We look forward to continuing our work together with you and are excited to host you next week for our annual Back to School Night.
Uniform Reminder:
Our school is a uniform school because our families continue to support and vote for this. Many families find it easier to manage and have less struggles in the morning due to this structure. Additionally, it was felt that this helped build community and reduce teasing over clothing. Uniforms also allow us to provide clothes to students that need them in a way that is not evident to others. We brought in our free dress Fridays because of student feedback requesting one day of no uniforms.
For this system to work however, we need families to support us by making sure that students are in uniforms Monday-Thursday. Our uniforms are white, blue, or yellow collared shirts with dark blue or khaki colored pants, skirts, shorts, or dresses. In addition to this, they can wear BEH or SEI branded clothing as uniforms.
We appreciate your continued support around this with our students.
The Week(s) Ahead
Early Release Reminder:
Next Wednesday, September 25th is our first early release. Students will be excused at 11:50 on that day. Please make sure you plan for pick up on that day. If your child rides the school bus, they will run at that time and will drop off at the usual stops just 2 hours and 40 minutes earlier than usual.
Back to School Night:
Our annual Back to School Night will be next Thursday, September 26th starting at 5:00. We will have pizza for families in the gym and then you will be able to walk the school and meet teachers and support staff. Teachers will be able to share how their classroom routines run and review what a typical schedule is like for your students. This is a great time to ask questions and have your student share about their day with you.
SUN Registration Update:
Hello Boise Families, there may have been some confusion with the original link that went out for SUN . Below is the actual link for the SEI application for the 24-25 school year . Every student needs this application completed to participate in SUN. That being said SUN is a first come first serve enrollment and families will need to attend Back to School Night to fully register their student for SUN. It is not until they receive an email confirmation from Ms. Ali that they are enrolled in SUN. Ms. Ali is back in the building and can further answer any questions that you may have. Her email is Alshawndam@selfenhancement.org or you can reach her during business hours (8am-5pm) at 503-753-2642. SUN is ONLY for students K-5th grade!
