Conferences October 7th, 10th, 15th
Mississippi parent-teacher conferences are a great way to build a connection between home and school. Please sign up for a conference with your child's teacher at MyConferenceTime.Com/Mississipi. If you have questions, please email your child's teacher or call the office at 763-506-3500.

Mississippi Otter Fun Run Event Highlights!
Our Mississippi Otter Fun Run event today was amazing! Thank you to all who made this an awesome experience for our students. Without the support of our families, we never would have reached our fundraiser goal! Thank you for helping us raise over $19,000!
A special thanks to our Mississippi PTO for hosting this event, handing out prizes, and supporting our school!

District Kindness Poster Contest
All Mississippi Entries Due October 27th
All Kindergarten through 5th grade students enrolled in Anoka-Hennepin elementary schools are eligible to enter the Kindness Poster Contest. View this video for instructions!
Posters must include the contest theme: Kindness Takes All of Us (These words must be on the poster)
Posters must be on 11” X 17” paper (the school can provide this paper)
Crayons, felt tip pens, markers, paint, pen and ink, pencil, etc. may be used to create the poster.
Do not use wood, plastic, glass, metal, string, fabric, felt, collage materials, stencils, internet downloads, or computer art.
Posters cannot include copyrighted characters from comics, cartoons, television programs, movies, newspapers, magazines, etc.
Student name, grade, and school must be on the back of the poster.
Each school will select one winning poster for each grade level, K-5. The six winning posters will advance to the district level contest.
Posters are due back to the Mississippi by October 27th
Judges will look for the relationship of the poster to the theme, originality of the poster, quality of artwork, visual impact, and suitability of the poster for viewing.
One winning poster will be selected from each grade level K-5. District winners will be recognized at a future School Board meeting and receive a Kindle from Horace Mann.
Provide Parent Input on Future Elementary English Language Arts Curriculum

As the district reviews and adopts new course materials, it involves staff, students, parents, and the community in the process. This school year, the district will be in its ninth-year of using ‘Reading Wonders,’ the English Language Arts (ELA) materials used in district elementary schools, while it begins piloting potential and studying new ELA curriculum materials for the future.

Save the date: Families and community members are invited to the ELA curriculum review night on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Anoka-Hennepin Schools Educational Services Center located at 2727 N. Ferry Street, Anoka from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Phase 2 Budget Reduction Community Meetings
Community review and comment process begins for Phase 2 budget reductions and realignment process
The process to determine a solution to address a $21 million budget reduction gap facing Anoka-Hennepin Schools took an important step forward with a draft recommendations presented at the Monday, Sept. 23 Anoka-Hennepin School Board Meeting.
Attend a community open house meeting: Feedback will be collected and provided to the School Board through a series of public open house meetings at area high schools in addition to the online feedback form.
- Community Meeting #1: Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Coon Rapids High School
- Community Meeting #2: Tuesday, October 1 at Andover High School
- Community Meeting #3: Wednesday, October 2 at Champlin Park High School
- Community Meeting #4: Tuesday, October 8 at Blaine High School
- Community Meeting #5: Wednesday, October 9 at Anoka High School
All sessions will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m, with a short presentation at 6:10 p.m. The presentation provided at the community house meeting is similar to presentations provided at the Sept. 23 school board meeting. Interested citizens are encouraged to view the presentation and provide feedback using the form.
