Notes from the Family Ambassador
I know there seems to be a lot of information coming at parents this time of year. From the Panorama Survey, signing up for Parent Teacher Conferences & PTA Meetings. Here is a little overview of the different topics.
Panorama Survey is an online anonymous survey that you can take to give parent feedback on how you feel Gables is doing with your students, these happen twice a year, in the Fall & Spring. This is such valuable information for us to make changes, please let us hear your voice.
Parent Teacher Conferences are an opportunity to meet one on one with your student's teacher to find out how your student is doing in the classroom. You will sign up for an in person or zoom appointment. You will receive an email to set up this appointment from the parent portal. This is important time for parents to learn how their child is doing with the curriculum and how they are managing in the classroom. These happen twice a year in the Fall & Spring.
PTA Zoom Meetings are once a month and online via Zoom. These give an overview of what is happening in the school and can give you a bird's eye view of the upcoming events offered by the PTA. This is a way to get more involved with the "fun" side of learning.
As always, if you have any questions or need additional resources or connections to the school please never hesitate to reach out and I will do my best to help!
We love to learn. Go get'em Gators!

Panorama Survey
The Panorama Survey, administered yearly since 2017-18, was developed by CCS in partnership with Panorama Education to measure progress toward the "Portrait of a Graduate" goal and gather feedback from our community. This year, we are excited about the new, shortened, more streamlined version that will allow us to take action steps based on your feedback. Please take it today, it takes less than five minutes!

Guideline for Medication at School
Students needing to take medication during school hours must follow these guidelines:
- Provide the school nurse with a completed Medication Authorization Form signed by both the parent/guardian and the healthcare provider.
- Medications cannot be at school without the form and signatures of both doctor and parents. Medications cannot be held until the medication authorization form arrives.
- A new Medication Authorization Form is required each school year AND when there is a change in medication or dose.
- All medication must be in the original container in which it was dispensed by the healthcare provider or pharmacy and be labeled with the correct dose and instructions. The medication cannot be expired.
- The label must match what is on the Medication Authorization Form
- Students taking a medication at both school and home can request 2 separate labeled bottles from the pharmacy to divide the pills to have some at home and school.
- Students using an inhaler, epinephrine pen or other emergency medications at school can request 2 prescriptions from the healthcare provider in order to have a supply at home and school
- Medication must be brought to school by the parent or guardian. Bus drivers cannot be responsible for medications on the bus.
- School personnel cannot give over-the-counter medications unless prescribed by a healthcare provider. A medication authorization form is required.
- Prescribed over the counter medications follow the same guidelines as stated above for prescription medications. (Over the counter medications include pain medication such as Tylenol, cough medicine, eye drops, ointments.)
- Over the counter medications must be in the original container and not expired.
- A label must be attached to the medication which includes: the students name, name of medication, dosage, strength, route, time of administration and expiration date. Label must match the Medical Authorization Form.
- Medications ordered three times a day or less, unless time is specified, may not need to be taken at school. The medication should be given before school, after school and at bedtime.
All unused medication must be picked up by the parent/guardian on the last day of student attendance or it will be discarded.

PTA NEWS
Walk-a-thon Fundraiser
What a great success! Thank you to everyone who gave donations and to those who came to cheer on our walkers. The weather was beautiful & the vibes were high for our Gables gators as they were greeted by Centennial High School cheerleaders and football players. We were thrilled to partner with the high school to help cheer on our students. We had a visit from the Gables Gator, Minions and Pikachu! Then our top two students who sold the most mums at the Fall flower sale got to silly string Mr. Shope to great applause. (Thanks for being a great sport Mr. Shope!)
I can't say it any better than in the words of one student "That was the best event I've ever done!!!" Thank you again to everyone who helped make this a successful fundraiser for Gables ES, a great time was had by all. Join us at our next PTA meeting to find out how much we raised to support the school throughout the year!
Centennial getting everyone hyped!

IDEAS LIKE THIS...
There’s so much to love about fall in Ohio! With all of the pumpkin patches, apple orchards, back to school/sports events, and fall fun, it’s easy to stay busy. But don’t forget to stop and smell the autumn air and take in the beautiful fall color as the leaves change in Ohio!
With the cooler temps coming, the trees are about to transform with an explosion of vibrant red, orange and yellow fall leaves.
We can never predict the weather, but we can expect the leaves to change in October before we get sucked into the long, cold gray of winter in Ohio.
Make sure you enjoy the autumn colors and fall leaves while you can!
