Beginning on Tuesday, November 12, 10th Street between Lewis and Clark will be closed for parking and at times for traffic. Please plan ahead for parking and for alternative routes to avoid 10th Street. The street should re-open after 2:30 each day.

Reminder! Nominate an Outstanding STEM Teacher [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics]
You know the vital role STEM educators play in teaching our country’s future. Nominating a teacher from your school for a Presidential Award is just one small way you can thank them for their work.
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program is now accepting nominations for 7-12th grade STEM teachers. Awardees receive a certificate signed by the President; a trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities; and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
Do you know a teacher deserving of this incredible honor? Nominate them today! We welcome multiple nominations if you know more than one teacher deserving of this award. The application deadline is February 6, 2025.
Deadline Approaching - Nominate an Outstanding LVA Educator for "Teacher of the Game!"
West Coast Trial Lawyers, in partnership with UNLV Athletics and the Clark County School District Engagement Unit, are proud to announce the Teacher of the Game Recognition Program. Nominations are being accepted for outstanding CCSD teachers and are open through December 1, 2024. Selected teachers will receive a $500 gift card and free tickets to a UNLV Men's Basketball game where they will be recognized on the court!
Qualifications:
Nominees must be licensed CCSD Pre-K through 12-grade teachers in good standing and demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Consistently advances students to higher levels of achievement
- Demonstrates innovation in teaching methods and classroom instruction
- Sets students up for success in and out of the classroom

Friends of LVA Master Artist Series Brings Alum Back to LVA
Class of 2014 Alum Ben Green along with Ohad Mazor brought heightened Gaga Movement training to Ms. Huggins dance students. Ben Green participated in workshops and programs with Crystal Pite, Johannes Wieland, Tom Weinberger, and Gaga Movement Ltd. He joined Batsheva – the Young Ensemble in 2016 and Batsheva Dance Company from 2017-2023. In 2023, he became a Choreographic Assistant for Marlene Monteiro Freitas for projects in the Opera Ballet de Lyon. Today, he is a freelance choreographer, performer, and Gaga teacher.
Ohad Mazor was born in 1998 in Haifa, Israel, and graduated from Reut School of the Arts in Haifa in 2016. She is a non-binary independent artist, Gaga teacher, and former Batsheva Dance Company and Batsheva Ensemble dancer. She took part in the creations of "MOMO" by Ohad Naharin as well as in the restagings of Naharin's various works, as well as creation processes with Sharon Eyal, Ella Rothchild, and Roy Assaf.
These master artists were sponsored by the Friends of LVA Master Artist Series.
Class of 2025 Essential Information
Cap & Gown Graduation Information Distributed
On October 23, seniors received information from Jostens regarding purchasing a cap & gown for commencement ceremonies in May. Seniors who were absent or did not receive a packet can pick one up in the Activities office in the Sunset Building. Ordering information is also available at Jostens.com/graduation.
Jostens is the contracted distributor for LVA. Please contact the Activities Office with any questions at 702-799-7800, ext. 4804.
Graduation Cap & Gown are on Sale
The Class of 2025 may now start ordering cap & gowns as well as other senior items. Jostens is LVA's Official Company for LVA Graduation Gear. Seniors should order their cap & gown no later than April 12, 2025, to be guaranteed delivery by graduation practice and distribution day on May 23, 2025. Order at this link, Jostens.com/graduation. There are many package options available. The cap & gown [only] is at the most economical price of the year until mid-December. This information is also available at lasvegasacademy.net under Class of 2025.

Final Deadline Approaching - November 30! Extended Deadline for Senior Yearbook Portraits
Seniors MUST have their photo taken with Cashman for it to be in the yearbook. Cashman has a basic yearbook package that is very reasonable if students want to use a private photographer for everything else, but LVA cannot accept and publish photos from other studios. Sign up required. Hope For The City is excited for our annual Hope For Kids immersive drive-through holiday experiences, which incorporate fun while fulfilling the physical needs of the families in our community by providing warm clothing, toys, hygiene products, holiday treats, groceries, and a holiday meal! Families without vehicles are welcome to participate!
