Patriot's Pointe
September 4 - September 8 Vol. 2 Edition 6
Happy Tuesday Patriot Families!
Greetings Patriot Families,
Today is a digital learning day for all of our students. Parents, all teachers have assigned digital assignments that students will complete at home today. Please ensure that your student submits their work as today will count toward attendance for exam exemptions at the end of the semester. All teachers have been instructed to take attendance for all classes at the end of the day today and failure to submit assigned work could negatively impact your students attendance. Please check Parent Square and your email for specific assignments from your child's teachers.
Students will receive their 4.5 week progress reports on Thursday, September 7, 2023 via Infinite Campus. Parents, it is critical that you review these progress reports and schedule conferences with teachers to ensure that our students remain on track for graduation! Additionally, the PSAT is coming up next month! Freshman and Sophomore students can take advantage of this opportunity free of charge as the fee has been waived. This national assessment is a key indicator for how your student is likely to perform on the SAT/ACT. All Junior students taking the PSAT will have the opportunity to quality for the National Merit Scholarship and the fee is $20. Additional information can be found in the flyer further down in this newsletter.
This week will be busy at The Creek! Varsity Softball will begin region play on the road against Cedar Grove. Our Lady Patriots Volleyball team will show off their skills at the GVCA Invitational this weekend and our Varsity Football team will match up against E. Coweta on the road this Friday at 7:30pm!
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a competitive advantage!

Health Care Plans
If your student has a severe allergy, asthma, cardiac condition, diabetes, seizures or other health condition which may require medication or special care during school hours, we recommend you and your healthcare provider complete and sign a Health Care Plan which is available on the website or from your school nurse. Any student returning to school after surgery or a hospitalization is required to present from their healthcare provider a “Release to Return to School” and instructions for care (such as Discharge Instructions) including PE modifications and the use of crutches or a wheelchair and/or other medical devices or supplies (i.e., gloves, masks) provided by the parent/guardian.
Student Parking passes are available all year for $60 and should be displayed in the bottom corner of the driver's side windshield.

Student Advisory Council
As the 2023-2024 school year begins across our great state, it is time once again to seek applications for my Student Advisory Council. These students will meet with me four times throughout the school year to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom and other education-related issues.
The primary goal of my Student Advisory Council is to provide a voice for students across Georgia to share their perceptions and ideas, and every year, they serve as a valuable resource as I make decisions that impact students across the state. I enjoy meeting and learning about each council member. Their feedback, opinions, and perspectives provide insight for me and the Georgia Department of Education leadership and staff to make the best possible policy choices.
Georgia students are all unique, and we want them all to have an opportunity to be a part of the conversation. Please encourage any 10th- through 12th-grade students who are interested in participating to apply to join the 2023-2024 State School Superintendent's Student Advisory Council. I have included the application instructions below. If you or your students have questions, please email students@doe.k12.ga.us.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Click here for the 2023-2024 Student Advisory Council application. Applications must be submitted by September 8, 2023, at 5 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.
Students in grades 10-12 enrolled in a public high school (including charter schools and virtual students) are eligible to apply.
Selected students will be contacted via email. All students may visit gadoe.org/studentadvisory on September 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. to determine if they have been selected.
Please note that we typically receive hundreds more applications than we can accept. Not being selected for the Student Advisory Council does not mean the student's application did not meet the qualifications.
Sincerely,
Richard Woods

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
