SCIS PRINCIPAL MESSAGE 3/28/24
March 28, 2024
A NOTE FROM MRS. RAWLINS
Dear Sloan Creek Families,
Thank you for donating to the PTO hosted teacher lunch yesterday. It was such a delicious treat! YOU, the parents, are a part of what makes Sloan Creek special and we are so thankful for your partnership as we walk alongside each other in your child's education and life. ❤️
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Ryan Rohlmeier on being voted by his colleagues as the Sloan Creek Intermediate School 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year! Mr. Rohlmeier teaches 5th grade Social Studies. A teammate shared, "Ryan takes advantage of every learning opportunity and truly tries to make it an experience for kids. He respects his students. He believes in them, and they know that! Building relationships with them always takes priority. He is also a wonderful leader amongst other teachers!" We are so thankful for you, Mr. Rohlmeier!
We wish you all a wonderful long weekend and can't wait to see our Sloan Creek Leopards back at school on Tuesday!
Sloan Creek PROUD,
❤️ 🐆 Megan Rawlins

SOLAR ECLIPSE - APRIL 8
On April 8th, the DFW Metroplex will be in the path of totality for a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse. Lovejoy ISD is excited to share this celestial opportunity with our students and staff!
Weather permitting, students in kindergarten through high school will be allowed the opportunity to go outside to investigate the phenomena during totality. Because looking directly at the Sun is unsafe, Lovejoy students and staff will be provided certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses. Students will be required to wear the glasses provided at all times except when given teacher permission to remove them during totality.
If you would like your student(s) to participate in the outdoor activities, please complete the permission slip and return it by April 2nd. Paper copies of the Solar Eclipse permission slips will be sent home with students tomorrow.
The campus will be closed to visitors between the hours of 12:00-2:00. If you need to check your child out, please do so between 10:30 and 12:00.
SCIS students are asked to bring a small towel or blanket to sit on the grass during viewing.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
HELPFUL TIPS:
- When communicating an absence please include the first and last name of your student in the email as well as the reason for the absence.
- Automated emails/phone calls are placed at the end of the day to notify parents of any absences that have not been communicated.
- Allow time for your student's attendance to be updated. I will always respond to your email indicating attendance has been updated. Thank you for your patience.
- Who to email - all attendance matters need to go to Julie Boardman, julie_boardman@lovejoyisd.net or scis_attendance@lovejoyisd.net (they both go to Julie)
