1st Day of School for 9th Graders
Tuesday, September 3rd will be the first day of school for 9th graders only. We are excited to welcome our freshman class for this day that is specifically geared towards ensuring a smooth transition to high school! The first half of the day will be led by our Link Crew staff and student leaders. During the second half of the day, students will eat lunch and follow their trimester one class schedule.
Additionally, here is some information about our Link Crew program:
- Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew's proven high school transition program trains mentors from the junior and senior classes to be Link Crew Leaders. As positive role models, Link Crew Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school.
- On the first day of school, freshmen will be welcomed into North High by their upperclassmen Link Leaders for a fun and exciting day where they will do team building activities, tour North, go through schedules, and get to know each other! Link Crew leaders are excited and can't wait to meet the Class of 2028!
ATTENTION: Students New to North
If you are new to North High School you should have received one of the following emails:
9th Grade:
Welcome to North High School! We have received your paperwork at the high school and have your incoming 9th grade student registered at North for the upcoming school year. Please take a few minutes and select your courses you would like to take. Please return the Course Registration form to North High as soon as you can. If this is not returned, a schedule can not be created for the August 21 Chromebook pickup day. Further information and explanation of courses can be found at our website North Registration.
10th-12th Grade:
Welcome to North High School! We have received your paperwork at the high school and have your incoming 10-12th grade student registered at North for the upcoming school year. Later in August you will receive a phone call or email to get you scheduled to come to an Enrollment Meeting. In the meantime we are in contact with your previous school to obtain your school records. The transcript is particularly important to be placed in the correct classes for next year.
Please note: If your enrollment meeting is not scheduled before the Wed. Aug 21 Chromebook pickup date, no schedule will be available for pickup.
New Cell Phone Policy for 2024-25
As you may know, recent legislation requires school districts to have a cell phone policy in place for the 2024-25 school year. Also, it has become clear that cell phones are major distractions for our students and negatively impact their learning and ability to build positive relationships with their classmates and adults. Because North is committed to success for all of our students, we are making changes to all LEARNING SPACES. These changes will be put in place in all ISD 622 high school spaces:
- Cell phone use will not be allowed in all learning spaces. This will include classrooms, the gym, support staff spaces, the Student Office of Support, and all flex learning spaces.
- Violation of the cell phone policy will involve consequences that are progressive.
We are making these changes because we want to minimize distractions, give students a break from the pressures of social media, and most importantly, improve their social-emotional well-being and academic achievement.
