If students accurately know their math facts either by memory or by using a quick strategy to figure out the answer, they will be more successful in other math skills like long division and fractions. Please support math fact practice at home by using the links below.
January Trivia ~ January 22 ~ 3:30-4:30
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Parent University on Artificial Intelligence (AI) originally scheduled for January 7th has been rescheduled. This virtual event will now take place on Thursday, January 30th, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Registration for the original event will automatically transfer, and a Google Meet link will be shared closer to the new date. To accommodate those who could not attend on January 7th, registration has been reopened. Please see the event flyers for details and registration information.
This session is an educational opportunity to learn about AI tools and their implications, designed to inform and empower our community with knowledge about this rapidly evolving technology. Please note that this webinar is not a promotion of AI tools nor a statement of practices or policies by any of the sponsoring school districts. Instead, it is an informational session to help participants better understand AI’s role in education and daily life. We look forward to connecting with you on January 30th for this engaging and informative discussion.
This Parent University is sponsored in partnership with the Lake Park Elementary Feeder Districts and Lake Park High School.

January Parenting Tip: CHORES
Happy New Year 2025 Erickson Families!
As we start a new year, many of us think of new resolutions or goals we want to make in our lives. Many parents ask me how they can help their child improve their self-esteem. Well, one way to increase your child’s self-esteem is to give them something they are responsible for, that they can do independently. The easiest way to accomplish this is to give your child some set chores to do on a daily to weekly basis. Chores give your child pratice with certain skills and once they have completed the chore, they feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. This in turn increases their independence and self-esteem. Here are some age appropriate chores for you and your child to consider implementing in the new year. Here’s to a great 2025!
School District CARES Program: Expanding Mental Health Support in School District 13
School District 13 is excited to continue the CARES program—an innovative, community-centered initiative designed to improve access to quality mental health services. CARES (Community, Advocacy, Resilience, Engagement, and Support) connects families with local mental health providers based on individual needs, simplifying the process of finding help and scheduling appointments.
Through this program, families can receive up to 8 free mental health treatment sessions with independent, licensed clinicians, available in person and via telehealth. Services are 100% confidential and accessible to all district students, including those with commercial insurance, as well as those who are uninsured or underinsured.
This program is made possible through funding from District 13 in partnership with ReferralGPS, a mental health navigation service that connects students and families with local providers based on their specific needs.
For more information on the CARES program and accessing mental health services, please visit our District CARES page at https://referralgps.com/13cares or scan the QR code below. To get started, simply complete the “Treatment Request” form. You can also contact your student's social worker or counselor for assistance with placing a referral.
