Here are a few things we'd like you to know! Today, August 21st from 1:00-4:00 or Monday, August 24th from 1:00-4:00 you can bring your child's school supplies and we also have a few forms for you to fill out. Every child will have an iPad assigned just to them. We are encouraging everyone to purchase insurance for $25.00 just in case an accident occurs here or at home in case we have to go to Distance Learning. You have the option to sign off on this, but it would be wise to purchase the insurance. Otherwise if something happens to it you will be responsible for purchasing a new iPad.
Virtual students will be able to pick up their iPads Monday from 8:00-12:00. Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate, shot record , CDIB card if applicable and $25.00 for insurance. Insurance is recommended to protect against accidents to the device. You also need to fill a few papers. Virtual school will begin on Tuesday.
School Start/End times
William Gay ECC will open our doors at 7:35. School officially starts daily at 7:50. Breakfast will be served in the classrooms and will end at 8:00. Please get your child to school on time if they need to eat breakfast. School ends at 3:10.
Car Pickup/Drop off:
We use a number system and your child's teacher will give you your number on Friday or Monday.
Mrs. Reed, Ms. Mitchell, Mrs. Brenner, Mrs. Brock/Mrs. Mitchell, and Mrs. Taylor classes will be picked up on E Street. The best thing to do is to drive down to Monroe and then head south on E Street to the designated pickup/drop off by the playground.
Mrs. Collier, Mrs. Hampton, Mrs. Leibfried, and Mrs. Moore's classes will be picked up on F Street. The easiest thing to do is to turn right on Carl Albert and come straight down F Street to the designated pickup/drop off on the west side of the school.
Our car line is usually one of the quickest in town! However, we are going to have to ask everyone to be patient as we will be taking each child's temperature before they get out of the car. We will not be able to have walk-ups to the line or have people bring their children inside. This is for your child's protection. We want to make our school as safe as possible. Thank you for understanding.
Visitors:
We are limiting visitors to our school. If you need to visit with us you can speak to us by phone or in the foyer. If it is necessary for you to enter the school, everyone will be required to wear a mask, take their temperature, and put hand sanitizer on their hands. Appointments are preferred.
Lunches:
Kindergarten will be receiving free breakfast and lunches this year. Menus are posted on the McAlester website at www.mcalester.k12.ok.us. Virtual students can call Donna Green at 918-423-7816 to make arrangements to pick up free meals if desired.

Thanks to Mrs. Cornish for creating our new murals on our front windows. We will all enjoy watching her talent bring some of our favorite book characters to life! We certainly appreciate her sharing her skills with us!!
Congratulations to Mrs. Brock for having her beautiful baby girl! Mrs. Mitchell will be her long term substitute. Mrs. Mitchell is our Mrs. Mitchell's mother! We are happy to have her with us!
School during a pandemic is quite challenging. Daily information changes and we must adapt. Thank you in advance for being patient when we must switch gears. Please know that we will all do our very best to keep your child safe and happy while learning! Everyone here truly loves children and we will only treat each of our students with love and care!! Thank you for trusting us with your children...it is an honor we all take very seriously!!
