On Wednesday, October 16th, Olathe South will conduct the following State tests (Pre ACT 8/9, Pre ACT 10, ACT WorkKeys, Practice ACT, and PSAT) for grades 9 through 11. This is a half day for students taking the assessments. Seniors will not be at school on the 16th but are encouraged to attend colleges, work on scholarships, explore internships, and trade schools. Students should get a good night's rest and arrive at school with a pencil, calculator, water, snack, and a charged laptop if they take the PSAT. Students will report to their designated testing room between 7:30 and 7:40 am. Testing will begin immediately at 7:45 am, students arriving after this time will not be allowed to enter the testing room. Students will be escorted to the auditorium to work on schoolwork.

Olathe South Students will be dismissed at 11:05 am, and since this is a half-day, we will not provide lunch on this day.

Parent/Teacher conferences are the week of October 14. See the attached if you would like to schedule a conference using Parentvue.

Our interior and fashion design courses are seeking donations of fabric to support student projects, If you have any fabric at home that you are willing to donate or purchase, our FAID students would be greatly appreciative.

Olathe South will present this lesson during advisory on Monday, October 7. Please see the attachment below for more information and a link to opt your student out of the lesson.

K-State Engineering is coming to our area!

The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering will host events in Kansas City for students interested in pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science or construction science at K-State. Events are 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Representatives will lead an interactive presentation for students and their guests on the following topics:

• Types of engineering
• Engineering careers
• Successfully transitioning to an engineering degree
• Q&A session with K-State engineering students and college leaders
• Students who register and attend will receive a free K-State engineering-branded T-shirt!

The college will award a $1,000 scholarship* at each event to one high school senior or transfer student and one high school junior in attendance.

*To receive this scholarship, senior and transfer students must enroll full-time in the summer or fall 2025 semester in the College of Engineering, and juniors must enroll full-time in the summer or fall 2026 semester in the College of Engineering. Scholarships are nontransferable.

The Olathe South Robotics team is hosting a fundraiser by collecting donations of gently used clothing and household items to support their upcoming season. If you have items you've been meaning to donate, please consider bringing them to the school on the evening of October 16th between 5-7 PM. Smaller items can also be dropped off in the donation boxes located in the commons over the next 2 weeks.

We’re accepting clothing, small household goods, books, and media, all in good condition.

The Kansas Apply Free Days will be held on October 7th - 9th 2024. During these days, any Kansas resident, regardless of age or income can apply for free at any of the 7 public universities, 19 community colleges, 6 technical colleges, and the 21 private member institutions of the Kansas Independent College Association. Eligible programs include general applications, certificate programs, associate degree programs, and bachelor degree programs. Please see attached flyer for instructions for the free apply days.
