Margaret Circle
Margaret Circle will meet on Thursday, May 6, at 1:00. We will meet at the pavilion by the water at Port Republic rather than on Zoom, rain or shine.
The topic will be presented by Kim Trotto, and will be as follows:
“What was it like to keep house in the middle ages or the Victorian era? That is, if you were a not a fine lady with servants to do your bidding? We’re fortunate to have modern conveniences in our homes but many of these are relatively new. Cooking and cleaning in the past could be very laborious, yet women found ways to make work easier and used methods of caring for their families that still work well. In the Margaret Circle presentation for May, I will discuss the lives of mainly rural women since most people did live and work in rural areas until the late 19th Century. My source materials are the BBC living history series Victorian Farm and Tudor Monastery Farm and the works of historian Ruth Goodman, a specialist in historical housekeeping.”
All are welcome to attend what promises to be a very interesting meeting. Contact Betsy Searight or email admin@uucsjs.org for more information.

Thank You!
I want to say a loud and sincere Thanks! to all who conveyed their gratitude in the April 18 service when my retirement became official. It is safe to say I have never felt more loved and appreciated. Your support over the years has allowed me to grow as a person and as a musician. Of course, I will still be present in zoom services as the music coordinator, and I look forward to resuming in-person worship and activities at the soonest possible safe date.
The gifts of travel vouchers for AirBnB and for American Airlines and the travel accessories will soon be put to good use. You all were extremely generous!
I want to say thanks for your faithfulness over the past year in attending services and supporting our congregation and one another from a distance. Maintaining a sense of community while we are limited to online communication requires the grit to stay on the path even when it is rocky and rough. Let's continue to walk it together.
Sincerely,
Barbara Miller
