"SO LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE"

Thank you to all parents, families, teachers, and staff for an excellent 1st couple of days of school. Despite a couple of teary eyes and whimpers, they eventually were able to separate and go on about their day. (I am speaking about the parents).

Hopefully, our kids enjoyed the first days in their new environment. We at HCS will continue to keep them safe and guide your child in becoming the Light of the world. It is what our Lord has asked of us.

And, in keeping with that Growth Mindset, remember we celebrate and reward the process of learning about our Mind, Body, and Spirit.

THIS IS AN AMAZING FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY FOR HCS.

Renner Stock Farms in Belleville has invited us to sell fish sandwiches and french fries at their "100 Years of Horsepower" event August 29th-31st, which is expected to draw a crowd upwards of 50,000 people over the three days. We will be able to keep 100% of the profits from our stand.

Parents, grandparents, teachers, alumni, friends, parishioners, and 7th and 8th grade students are asked to help out and work a shift. We would love to see each class coordinate a time for your class parents to work. It's a great way to get to know other parents in your child's grade. Or, ask family and friends to work with you. This stands to be a very profitable fundraiser for the school, but every spot needs to be filled to make it a success. We will use the majority of the profits for much needed classroom renovations. Additionally, 7th and 8th grade students or parents that work a shift can choose to have 1% of the profits per shift worked go toward their Washington, D.C. trip in the spring. Parents,

We are in need of a few parent volunteers to supervise when our students head out to recess.

Details:

~Monday through Friday: need at least 1 parent

~Wednesday only: need at least 2 parents

Times:

~(estimated) 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

In preparation for the Parish Fish Fry & Picnic, the HCS parking lot will be in inaccessible for morning drop off and pick up beginning Tuesday, August 20 through Friday, August 23.

We ask that everyone is patient as kids are dropped off on the sidewalks around school and we thank everyone for your patience.

7th grade parents have traditionally been responsible for desserts for the Friday Night of the Fish Fry. Please look for a communication coming to you from Mrs. Holzhauer for futher communication.

We put 2 different times for people that are there early of pickup or if parents want to stay after with kids. This is in no way meant to pressure anyone.

The HCS Girls' Soccer team "kicks off" their season next week.

As a reminder, per handbook policy, to prevent the spread of communicable disease, children should not attend school until they have been free from symptoms ( Fever, Vomiting, Diarrhea ) without medication for 24 hours. If you have questions concerning a specific illness, please contact the school office.

This article came out today. And even though the title implies "college", it most certainly applies to the foundations of tools we are trying to establish here at HCS. (Growth Mindset, doing hard things....)
