Welcome Back!
Dear Kawartha Heights Families,
Welcome to the new school year at Kawartha Heights Public School! We are absolutely thrilled to see both our returning students and the new faces joining us this year. We are excited to embark on another year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences.
After a well-deserved break, we hope everyone has had a chance to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones. As we step into this new academic year, our team of dedicated educators is ready and eager to support your children on their educational journey.
At Kawartha Heights, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student can thrive. Our focus will continue to be on academic excellence, character development, and creating a sense of community that makes our school feel like a second home.
We have many exciting initiatives and programs planned for this year, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Whether it’s through hands-on learning experiences, extracurricular activities, or community events, we’re dedicated to making this year a fantastic one for all our students.
We look forward to partnering with you to ensure your child’s success and well-being. Your involvement and support are invaluable to us, and we encourage you to stay connected through our various communication channels.
Thank you for being a part of the Kawartha Heights family. Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with learning, laughter, and growth!

Waterbottles and school drinking fountains
Don't forget to bring your water bottles to school! We have water refilling stations and fountains throughout our school, but it is always nicer to have your own bottle to fill.

Visitors cannot be in our halls
If you are picking your child up, please ring the front bell. You may wait in the office, but you may not go to your child's classroom. At the end of the day, we release all students grade 1-6 to the side on Applewood Road.
Late arrivals
If your child arrives late, they need to go to the office to sign in. Kindergarten students cannot go to the exterior doors for access, they must go to the office. School starts at 9 and it is important to be in class at that time.
Kindergarten Corner
1) End of the day pick up is a few minutes earlier for kinder safety.
2) If your child goes to daycare, please inform their teacher.
3) If you are late dropping off, please go to the front entrance.
The first few weeks are difficult for most of our little ones as they adjust to school routines. Your child might be more tired or restless or even testing boundaries. These first few weeks of Kindergarten can be hard. Just remember, we are a team, we will work together and communicate often with your childs teachers (Ms.Bartlett & Mrs.Charmley room 102 or Mrs.Richardson & Mrs.Kuzie room 103).
Bus Quick-Tips
* Only those who have opted-in can ride the bus.
* A parent must meet their child at the bus stop in order for the driver to let them off in the afternoon for all children in JK to grade 3.
* Our school code of conduct incudes the bus ride to and from school. If the driver has any concerns they will complete a Bus Report which will be sent home to families after a conversation with the office.
* Did you know that students are only eligible for busing if you live greater than 1km from school (shortest route) for kindergarten and greater than 1.6km for all grade 1-6 students. This means that eligibility can change between SK and grade 1 and you need to keep this in mind so you are not caught off guard.
For your Information:
* Hot Lunch resumes the week of September 16th. Please check School Cash Online to place orders (we can also take other forms of payment, please call the office and June will let you know).
* If your child has a medical plan of care, please notify your childs teacher and we will make sure the correct forms are given to you.
* Compass daycare is separate from us, and we do not share information. If your child attends before or after care we rely on you to let us know your child's schedule.
* We are required by legislation and protocols to ensure that procedures are in place for emergencies. Throughout the year we are required to complete a series of fire drills and lockdowns. We work together with our community partners to promote emergency preparedness in a way that is age-appropriate for our students.
* Proper indoor shoes are required. When you purchase indoor shoes, think about your child's age and stage and gym. Students need to be able to run, jump, and play without worry of injury.
