Hello Calais Cougars!
I’m happy to report back positive changes on our recent recess challenges. We spent two weeks focusing on community and inclusion and limit setting on competitive games. In week three, we reintroduced competitive games with close supervision and parameters for how to problem solve. This week’s recess was so much better. Our students are growing their skills! We went from regulating recess, to co-regulating recess, to students being supervised while regulating themselves. We want our students to be responsible, connected, and inclusive and they are doing a great job!
We are off this afternoon with a three day weekend in observance of Memorial Day. I say that with huge appreciation for a long weekend! And….Memorial Day is a day set aside to honor those who have died in service to our country and that holds real meaning for me. While I enjoy my long weekend, I’ll be sure to set aside a moment of remembrance for the fallen.
Thank you,
Ms. Cat, CES Principal
