EAGLE TRACT
CORNERSTONE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY
Greetings Eagle Family,
I am thrilled to welcome you to November, and I anticipate an exciting month ahead. I want to express my gratitude to the entire school community for their tremendous support and contributions to our students' learning and the overall success of the school. A special appreciation to parents who volunteered as resource persons during school events.
The school came alive in the previous month as facilitators and students joined in the celebration of important internal activities such as the C.I.A. Spelling Bee competition, Math Matrix grand finale, Unit Preview with parents, Teachers’ Appreciation Week, Sports Day / Fun Day, and the United Nations Day. I believe the month of November will be no exception as we prepare ourselves to celebrate in-house events such as; The C.I.A. Carnival, The Scientist, Unit Celebrations, and Children’s Day.
During the month of November, the school community will exemplify the IB Learner Profile of being an "inquirer." As an educational institution, we firmly believe that the quality of being an inquirer is indispensable, influencing not only our students but also the entire school population.
An inquirer is an individual capable of establishing real-world connections through investigation and questioning. This involves the application of a problem-solving and experimental approach to learning, enabling students to actively engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate in pursuit of meaningful discoveries.
I encourage everyone to embrace the role of action-takers, embodying the inquirer attribute from the learner profile. Let's foster curiosity, ask questions, and seek solutions to address global challenges. Wishing you all a productive month.
Semper Fi!
Always Faithful!
Sincerely,
William Gyamfi

The PYP Inquiry Cycle is designed to be a flexible and dynamic framework that allows for student-led exploration and deeper understanding of concepts. It promotes critical thinking, research skills, and a sense of agency in students, as they take ownership of their learning journey. The PYP emphasizes inquiry-based learning, where students explore topics and concepts through their own questions and investigations.
- Build On Prior Knowledge
Inquirers are able to recall knowledge from previous or past happenings thus, conduct hands on activities before beginning a new topic. These activities trigger the brain to recollect the prior knowledge. Give a short question on the topic, provide diagrams to facilitate observations and opportunity to describe the process which will help them to recall and then explain their prior knowledge. As they explore these important ideas and issues, they begin to develop a broad range of knowledge across many disciplines
- Research and Gather Information
Students are able to assemble information from the community, students are capable of developing skills such as comparing, contrasting, validating and prioritizing the information. It is appropriate to expose children to content that will nurture curiosity and assist in constructing their own understanding therefore inquirers are always encouraged to gather information.
- Analyze Their Findings
Students have the disposition to investigate concepts and information in order to reinforce understandings and to assist their peers make connection to concepts and be able to transfer new learning to the real world.
- Create New Understanding
Students are able to develop the ability to appreciate concepts and gain an in-depth understanding of different fields by engaging in activities that are suitable for them, since they were able to come up with the information and concept by themselves.
The Bee Journey
Our quest to find the junior and senior level champions for the C.I.A. The C.I.A. Teachers' Appreciation Week Celebration
“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.”- - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Navigating the teen years : challenges and solutions
As a teenager, do you really know how to handle the challenges that come with this phase of life? Let's discuss some common issues faced by teens and how to tackle them.
1. Peer Pressure: One major challenge is peer pressure. Teens often seek validation from their peers, sometimes compromising their values. To help, create a safe space for teens to express themselves without judgment. Remember, most teens face peer pressure at some point.
2. Body Image Concerns: With the influence of social media, unrealistic beauty standards can affect teens' self-esteem. Combat this by reminding them that all body types are beautiful. Show them that those "perfect" images online are not the norm.
3. Academic Stress: Academic pressure can lead to obsession with grades and overworking. Encourage a balance between academics and well-being. Let your teens know they've done well, and prioritize their mental and physical health. Avoid comparisons; they're already comparing themselves to others.
4. Mental Health Matters: The pressures teens face can impact their mental health. Encourage open conversations about emotions and stress. Let them know it's okay to seek help or guidance when needed. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
In conclusion, being a teenager comes with challenges, but it's crucial to understand and address them. Teens, don't hesitate to share your feelings and seek guidance from someone with more experience.
