Immersion Families,
Our annual Tomo No Kai Cherry Blossom festival is just around the corner and students have been busy making art (Grades K-6) and practicing performances (K-8) to share with friends and family.
We are celebrating on May 3 at Dimond High this year and we need your help! Each grade is preparing an art piece (Art is K-6), a song/dance, and hosting a craft/game table. We are asking each elementary class to provide 2 volunteers to help the classroom teachers in staging students for the performance as well as 2-3 volunteers to help set up/supervise the craft/art activities in the gym. If you are interested and available, please click here to sign up to volunteer. Please remember, if you are going in to the school to volunteer during the day, you will need to be approved by ASD (annually). Please click here to register if you have not already done so this year.
This year, we will have a live auction during the performances to give all families a chance at purchasing the original art pieces so spread the word and be ready to bid on that priceless art (see some of our past amazing artwork below)!
There will also be a gift card wall fundraising station and we need your help to fill it with great prizes! If you would like to donate, we are requesting gift cards (from any location) with a minimum value of $20. Any donations can be given to Sand Lake: Immersion classroom teachers, Mears: Mrs. Chambers, Mrs. Loer, or Mrs. Middleton, Dimond: Mrs. Gellart or Mr. Yamamoto, or dropped in the Tomo No Kai drop box at Sand Lake Elementary (by the front door) or Mears front office (Ms. Hayley) by Wednesday, May 1st.
Thank you in advance for all of your support to make this event a success!

Track finished the regular season with a very windy meet Thursday night at Mears. Thank you to all the families who helped us host two meets this year. Also to our Administration for working magic to make Mears available in moving the Hanshew meet to our school. Extracurricular activities do not happen without the support of our Mears community.
Over half of our track athletes have qualified for the ASD Championships that occur over 3 days May 1, 2 & 7. All the information has been emailed home recently and student-athletes will be notified Monday morning at school.
