TERM 2 INTERIM REPORTS
December 17th marks the halfway point for Term 2. As you are able to monitor your child's progress on Aspen, our online grading and attendance program, we recommend you check your child's academic progress to date. On December 20th, Aspen will provide you with detailed information regarding your child's completion of assignments and attendance, as well as information on classwork, homework, quizzes, and test scores. Hopefully, this information will enable you to have meaningful conversations with your child about their progress and/or expectations.

Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
We had a wonderful turnout at the 7th/8th Grade Winter Concert. Our student-musicians did not disappoint, as the band, orchestra, chorus, and jazz band all put on an enjoyable evening of music. It is amazing to watch the growth of our musicians. We hope we will be able to continue to increase the number of students participating in these performance groups.
At NRMS, every student is provided with a district-owned Chromebook. The Chromebook that is assigned to your child is their device to use for schoolwork during their three years at the middle school. We are noticing that some students are not taking care of the devices and we have had a number of damaged screens or damaged keyboards at the start of this school year. We have decided to issue all 6th and 7th grade students a protective case. We are installing these cases this week. Using the case is not optional, it is required. We hope this will greatly reduce the damage if/when a device is dropped accidentally.
Next week we have our Pack the Gym event on Monday afternoon. The students are all encouraged to attend the basketball game in our gym. It is the home opener for our basketball team and the crowd support is a fun way for us to get together as a community and support the team. Parents/guardians are of course welcome to attend as well. The game starts at 4pm. See flyer above for more information.
Also taking place next week are a couple of transition events. On Monday and Wednesday we will welcome 5th graders from the Eddy Elementary School in Brewster to NRMS. The 5th graders will be paired with a current 6th grader, attend a couple of classes, tour the school, and eat lunch here in our cafeteria. The other elementary schools will visit a little later in the winter, likely in February. This is part of our efforts to ensure a smooth transition to the middle school.
Our 8th grade students will be visiting Cape Cod Technical High School on Monday and Tuesday. As a middle school, we take proactive steps to help students both transition into the middle school and successfully transition out to the high school level.
The busy week ends with a holiday spirit day (holiday sweaters encouraged) on Friday December 20 leading into the holiday vacation. There is no school December 23-January 1.
Have a wonderful weekend.
