Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to a round up of another busy week at school!
This week, Wright Brothers went for a walk around the village to identify different types of houses.
They were impressed with the variety on offer in Church Fenton and were able to name them all!
They did notice litter in the village and so we are working with the Church and local Brownies to
arrange a litter picking evening.
This morning, three of our Year 5 children attended a STAR MAT conference for climate change.
They looked at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and came back with the beginnings of an action
plan. They will be feeding back to the Eco Warriers who will them spur us into action!
Myself and Mrs Rowley have met with the school governors for Church Schools this week. We have
been revisiting the vision and values to ensure they represent who we are as a school. More
information will be coming about this and there are plans for work with the children to understand
our vision and values and how they equate to everyday life. For Lent, we have switched things
around. Following a Live Assembly with lots of other school, we talked about instead of giving things
up, we would give to others. These ’40 acts’ are displayed in classrooms and the children are going
to try and do one of them each day.
On Monday, Mrs Mayhew will join us in Wright Brothers class. She will spend two days with Mrs
Harrison and then take over from Wednesday. We wish Mrs Harrison lots of love as she embarks on
a wonderful journey with her children.
Thanks as always for your continued support.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mel Walmsley
