MINI MAVERICK MESSENGER

The Mini Maverick Messenger is our monthly PTA newsletter for our wonderful Ogle families filled with upcoming events, fundraisers, photos, volunteer opportunities, & other information from your PTA. You can always find a copy of the newsletter on our PTA website at https://www.ogleelempta.com/.

Donate to help fund the amazing PTA events, class parties, and programs we have planned for the students, teachers, and Ogle community this school year! If we can reach our overall goal of $20K, Mr. McCarty gets SLIMED AND we will be able to purchase a GAGA BALL PIT and bricks for a WALK OF FAME for Ogle!!

Color Run Volunteers (10/10): 88 volunteers are needed to help set up, manage color run stations for each grade level, and clean up! Shifts are 30-55 minutes long. Must be logged into Voly to sign up at https://friscoisd.voly.org/opportunity/preview.html?id=99437

We've having a COLOR RUN! As of 10/7, we've raised $9,622!

WHAT TO WEAR: Students are asked to wear white or light colored clothing. The powder should wash out, but please don't wear any favorite items of clothing just in case! Students must wear closed toe shoes to participate safely. An old pair of gym shoes would be perfect! Student are welcome to bring a pair of sunglasses to help keep powder away from their eyes.

Accepting Imperfection

Oct 1st - Oct 25th

Attention all dancers, musicians, videographers, photographers, writers, and artists! We invite you to explore and express the theme of Accepting Imperfection through your creative work. The first 100 submissions with completed entry form will receive a Digital Offer Card for a free Icedream, cookie, or brownie from Chick-fil-A. Thank you Chick-fil-A on El Dorado and Ridge for your generous donation!

Submission Guidelines:

• Medium: Open to the following forms of artistic expression: dance, music, photography, writing, video, and visual arts.
• Theme: Your work should reflect the theme of Accepting Imperfection, showcasing how flaws and vulnerabilities can inspire and resonate with audiences.
• Deadline: Before Oct 25, 2024 @ 3 p.m.
  
• How to Submit: Please send your submissions to the Ogle front office, including a completed student entry form. Blank entry forms can be found below, on the PTA website, or from Ms. Newport.

Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair in the Ogle Library during school hours.

Oct 25th

Grandparents are welcome to join their grand kids for lunch, and the book fair.

Oct 30th

A themed evening for the family with characters and books! More info to come!

We appreciate everyone who joined us for Spirit Week and Handel's for providing up to 30% of their sales back to Ogle. Congratulations to Ms. Hernandez's class on winning the free ice cream party!!! We loved seeing the photos of our students supporting Spirit Week!

• Invited the McTown Klownz to teach the kids about general fire safety
• Promoted a positive learning environment and setting a positive example for students as Watch D.O.G.S.
  

Volunteered hours by:

• Laminating and cutting in the workroom to help optimize teachers' time
• Assisting Nurse Black in conducting hearing and vision screenings.
• Coordinating classes to and from the photography locations and preparing students for their picture during Picture Day
• Helping students exchange their Mav Money at the Mav Money Store
  

Our PTA appreciates every volunteer who assists our community, and as a small thank you we will be announcing a volunteer each month who will be awarded with a special thank you. (To nominate a volunteer please send an email to Michaela Madrigal, our Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@ogleelempta.org )

Frisco ISD Board Policy requires that each volunteer undergo a background check before working with students. You will be prompted to complete the background check during your Voly account creation. Keep an eye on your inbox for your background check approval (the process can take up to 3-5 business days.) If you signed up previously, please note that a new background check must be completed each school year as required by Frisco ISD!

1. Work Room Volunteers: Supporting our teachers by helping with lamination, cutting, sorting, stapling, etc. *All materials provided and younger siblings are welcome to join*

2. Watch D.O.G.S. (any male figure (or female!)): Spend the day on campus volunteering with your student & helping in your child's classroom

3. Color Run Volunteers (10/10): 101 volunteers are needed to help set up, manage color run stations for each grade level, and clean up! Shifts are 30-55 minutes long.
