Afternoon Parking Lots Beginning Monday, October 7
Parents,
I am going to answer some questions I’ve received about dismissal. If you did not see the original messages I sent I’ve included that in its entirety at the end of this message. These parking lot designations are specifically for our dismissal time from 3:45-4:15.
Red Lots:
Yes you can still pick your child up in either red lot by using the car line.
This is our preferred way for you to pick your child up.
These 2 lots are for curbside pick up for your students. They can wait on the sidewalk and enter your car directly from the curb.
The only thing changing for the red lots is you cannot park and your child walk into that lot to your car.
If your child needs to put items in your trunk you may want to consider a blue lot since that slows the carline down for others.
Blue Lots:
These are the lots you can park and your student can walk to your parked car.
You do not need to leave your car - your student can come to you.
We will expect your student to stay on the sidewalk paths and cross at the designated locations.
The crossing spots are not manned and your student will need to cross when clear.
I hope these points help. We will be strictly enforcing these procedures starting Monday 10/7. The original message with the graphic is below.
Dear Parents,
We are implementing some important changes to improve the safety and efficiency of our student pickup process, particularly during our busy window from 3:45 to 4:15 PM. Your cooperation is essential to ensure our students can get to their cars safely.
New Guidelines:
- (Preferred) Curbside Pickup Only: The front office lot and the large lot by the back gym are designated for curbside pickup only. Your students will not be allowed to cross into this lot during peak traffic times notated above. These are designated in red on the map below.
- Parking Options: If you prefer to park and have your child walk to your car, please use one of the following four lots (designated in blue on the map below):
- The lot in front of the field house
- The lot by the IAC/Baseball Field
- The tennis court lot
- Far lot by gym
These designated areas allow students to travel on sidewalks and use the safest crossing spots. Spots are on a first come, first serve basis, and if there are events, there may not be availability. Our preferred and safest pickup for your students is curbside pick up and we encourage all of you to participate in that.
We will educate the students on the designated paths and crossing locations. These crossing locations will not be manned.
Below you will find our parking lot designations and our unchanged traffic pattern graphic.
Important Date: We will start enforcing these changes on Monday, October 7th, but we encourage you to begin using them immediately to ensure everyone’s safety.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our students safe.
Best regards,
Mrs. Lumsden
