December 2024
Dear Crusader Families,
Happy St. Nick Day! We had a fun visit from St. Nick. To view the pictures from St. Nick's visit, please visit our school Facebook page by clicking on the following link: www.facebook.com/sfdslebanon
New this year, the school collaborated with the Parish to offer Campus Minister Thursdays for students in grades K-8. The Campus Minister Thursdays are led by PJ Ehling. Mr. Ehling comes to teach Religion class once a month to all K-8 classes. He also leads retreats for students in grades 3-5 and 6-8. The retreats are twice a year. There was a Fall Retreat and there will be a Spring Retreat. The students have enjoyed Mr. Ehling's classes and retreats.
Mr. Ehling states the following objective for Campus Minister Thursdays: The theme for my visits in the classes is the Good Samaritan. The emphasis is that you can’t love God if you don’t love your neighbor (cf. 1 John ). The overall goal this year is giving the students the basics they need to establish a spiritual life/relationship with God.
Along with Campus Minister Thursdays, Mr. Ehling leads a Wednesday reflection before every School Mass. Mr. Ehling has put together a schedule for the parents to see what is discussed before every Wednesday School Mass, and what is being taught in the Campus Minister Thursday sessions as well. Please see the schedules below. The schedules will also be posted on the school website.
If there are any questions regarding the Wednesday reflections or the Campus Minister Thursdays, please let Mr. Ehling or I know. Mr. Ehling's email is pjehling@olohparishfamily.org.
All are invited to attend the Advent Penance Service on Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. The Penance Service will take place at St. Philip the Apostle Church. There are 6 priests that will be in attendance. It is a great way to continue the Advent journey towards Christmas.
As always, thank you for all you do to support the school.
Gratefully,
Sarah Bitzer
Principal
