Black History Month
As we reflect on Black History Month, I want to take a moment to recognize the profound contributions of Black Americans in shaping our nation. Black history is American history, and the legacy of resilience, excellence, and progress extends far beyond the month of February.
We must also acknowledge the painful truth that the transatlantic slave trade fractured families and created incomplete narratives that continue to affect our communities today. Yet, through struggle and perseverance, Black Americans have enriched our society in immeasurable ways—through culture, education, science, politics, and countless other fields.
I encourage you to take a moment with your child to discuss and honor the achievements of Black leaders, artists, activists, and everyday heroes who have paved the way for a better future. Let’s commit to making Black history an integral part of our learning and conversations every day, not just this month.
Thank you for joining us in this important reflection.
We will be celebrating our Black families this Friday February 21 at Grant Elementary from 6pm-8pm.

SAFETY IN THE PARKINGLOT
As we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, I want to remind everyone to be mindful of pedestrians, other drivers, and our school community during pick-up and drop-off times.
We understand that these times can be hectic, but we kindly ask that all parents and guardians avoid double parking or leaving vehicles unattended in non-designated areas. If you need to leave your vehicle, please park in a designated stall to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic.
By working together and following these guidelines, we can help prevent congestion and, most importantly, keep our students safe. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to making our school a safer place for everyone.
