High Performance Learning School
Introduction by Mrs R Jackson, Associate Assistant Headteacher
Welcome to the summer term. It may be the final term of the year but we still have lots of exciting activities going on.
It is an important term for our Year 11 and 13 students who are in the middle of exams. We wish them the best of luck for their exams and we are sure they will be rewarded for their hard work once results are out. We look forward to celebrating with students at the Year 11 prom this June. We still have many exciting things to look forward to in the summer term, including our school production - Matilda Junior The Musical. Our talented 40-strong cast will perform the musical on 15 and 16 June and tickets are now on sale. Use the link below to book tickets.
We have Year 7 residentials taking place this term as well as a German exchange trip. We hope students enjoy these experiences which will create memories (and friendships) that last a lifetime.
Our annual sports day always proves to be a highlight of the year all where students will compete for their house in a range of sports including dodgeball, football, rounders, tug of war and athletics, in the hope of winning the sports day trophy. Can another house beat unstoppable Turing and break their 5 year winning streak?

Cricket Trip
Our Year 7 and 8 boys, represented Colton Hills on Tuesday, 6 May at the Wolverhampton schools cricket tournament! The team, led by Mr Warden, had a fantastic day with lots of runs scored and lots of indoor cricket experience gained. We are very thankful to be able to offer our students these sporting opportunities through our PE department, who is doing a fantastic job.
3x National Boxing Champion
Congratulations to Zidane in Year 9 on keeping his place on the podium and becoming a 3x National Boxing Champion in his category! Amazing achievement!
Tally Ho School Trip
Last Friday, 9th May we visited the national police dog trials at Tally Ho, Birmingham. During this event students watched a display of police handlers and dogs catching and detaining offenders. We then explored a variety of displays that gave students the opportunity to understand more about the work of emergency services and different career paths that were available.
These included students learning more about the role of firefighters, how they work together as a team and the different equipment that they carry to deal with a variety of emergencies. They viewed and sat in several emergency vehicles including a fire engine, helicopter, and police motor bike. They learnt more about the polices role in maintaining public safety and how other equipment such as drones are being used by the police.
Colton Hills Alumni Campaigns for Football Diversity
We are very proud of our ex-Colton Hills student, Delroy Corinaldi, who is making a difference in the sporting world. Delroy is a shining example of our school values, campaigning for greater diversity and representation in football roles.
Delroy's mission is to highlight the interests of past and present black players, and discuss how to bring more fairness, equal opportunities and community cohesion into the game. His aim as co-founder of Black Footballers Partnership (BFP) is to improve the game of football, about ensuring that the best possible candidates for different roles, those with the correct skillsets and driving ambition, are being given fair access to opportunity. We support and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
