Principal's Communication
JHS Parents and Guardians,
Please be aware of the JHS Testing Procedure for all assessments. Each time there is an assessment, the following information will be displayed on the smart panel:
- No talking. Talking during an assessment will be considered cheating.
- Only your teacher can answer questions during an assessment. No exceptions.
- No electronic devices are allowed on your person.
- This includes earbuds, phones, smartwatches, tablets, etc.
- Backpacks must be closed and secured—away from desks when possible.
- If a Chromebook or other device is used to complete an assessment, close and put the device away upon submission of the assessment.
Failure to follow the above procedures will be considered cheating. You will receive a zero on the assessment, a discipline referral, and it will affect your exemptions.
This procedure mirrors state and national testing standards as well as testing procedures at other high schools. We believe it will result in a more secure testing environment. If you need clarification, please reach out to your student’s grade-level assistant principal.

2025 - 2026 Course Selection
All Course Selection information has been posted on the JHS Counselor website under Course Selection. Presentations, course listing sheets and course planning sheets have been posted for anyone to print out and use. All information has also been posted on your student's Class of Canvas page under the Announcements. Counselors will meet one on one with all students starting February 4th through March 7th. They will help them get all of their classes for next year into the Course Planner in Schoolinks. Once the counselor has met with your student, you will receive a message from their English teacher directing you to go back into Schoolinks and verify all of the courses for the 2025-2026 school year. In that message, there will be a link to a form to fill out if you want to change a chosen course. Please remember that once school begins in August, students will not be able to change an elective. Please have them choose wisely.
Summer Virtual Course
If your student is interested in taking a virtual course over the summer, fall or spring for next year through Katy Virtual, they will need to make sure that they are in the Course Planner in Schoolinks. There will be no registration link through the Katy Virtual School website. Once students have submitted their Course Planner, they will not be able to go back in and put in a summer, fall or spring course. This means that students will need to plan now if they are wanting to take any tuition based virtual courses. When students meet one on one with their counselor, they can help them put in these courses.
