Even if you think your family does not qualify, please complete either the Socioeconomic Information Form (CEP) and Free and Reduced Meals Application to give your school the most opportunities. 🚨 PfISD School Safety Measures Video
We invite all parents, staff, and students to watch this important video about school safety measures in PfISD. The video highlights the steps we're taking to ensure a safe environment for our students, staff and visitors.
It's crucial for parents to speak with their students about the importance of anonymous reporting through our "See or Hear Something, Say Something" initiative, empowering them to report any concerns through our Anonymous Alerts system.
Additionally, the video addresses how serious the consequences will be for making threats against a school, even if intended as a joke. Threats are taken very seriously, and there will be strict disciplinary and legal actions for anyone involved in such behavior. Keeping our schools safe is a shared responsibility. We appreciate your help in keeping our schools and community safe!

- Cannot contain any part of their name
- Must include at least one uppercase letter
- Must include at least one lowercase letter
- Must include at least one number
- Must include at least one special character (e.g., !, @, #)

📝 Apply now for the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards
Applications for the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards open until December 2
SAN ANTONIO, Texas—H-E-B is now accepting applications for the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, which awards cash prizes to educators who go the extra mile to serve their students and their communities. All state-certified public school educators currently teaching in Texas, as well as Texas early childhood education centers/schools, are eligible to apply before December 2, 2024 at heblovesteachers.com/apply/.
The 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards categories include:
Teacher
School Counselor
Principal
Early Childhood Facility
School Board
School District
Since 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program has awarded more than $14 million in funding to finalists, winners and their schools.
“The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards is more than just recognition—it’s an opportunity for teachers, counselors, and administrators to win cash prizes and matching grants for their schools,” Jill Reynolds, H-E-B Public Affairs Manager, said. “An application can lead to funding that has impactful benefits for educators, their students and community.”
Every year, H-E-B accepts nominations for the Excellence in Education Awards before applications open. While a nomination is not required to apply for an award, a nomination lets an educator know they are appreciated and encouraged to apply for the awards program. Nominees will receive an emailed invitation to apply and must submit an application to be considered for the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. Individuals who nominated an educator can encourage them to apply as well.
Finalists and winners will be selected by a panel of judges composed of educators, administrators and community leaders throughout the state. Ten winners—six teachers, two counselors and two principals—along with an early childhood facility, public school board and two school districts, will be announced at an awards ceremony in May 2025. Each award recipient’s school will also receive a matching grant.
In 2024, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program distributed over $780,000 in cash and grants to educators and schools. Through this program, H-E-B seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each day to serve their students and communities and who inspire others to do the same. To apply, visit heblovesteachers.com/apply/.
Eligibility
Eligibility is not dependent on proximity to H-E-B store locations. Teachers who have been previously selected as statewide winners are not eligible to reapply until they have entered a new award category based on years of experience. Teachers who have been chosen as a statewide finalist must wait at least one year before reapplying.
School district, early childhood and school board winners are not eligible to reapply. Finalists in these categories must wait at least one year before re-applying.
About the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards

📣 Shout Outs from Parents, Students, and Community Members
Savanna Rees of Weiss High School (via: Tina T) Ms. Rees does a fantastic job making individuals feel welcomed and heard when they walk into Weiss High School. Every time I entered the building, I'm greeted with a smile. She actively listens and does her best to make sure my concerns/needs as a parent are addressed. Thank you, Savanna; your effort to foster a warm welcoming environment is felt and appreciated!
Laura Emery Gonzales of Carpenter Elementary (via:Preston) Ms. Gonzales is a shining example of what it means to be a 1st grade teacher and advocate for all students! We had a wonderful conference with her and could tell with the way she spoke not only about our student, but about all students shows her depth of care as well as how serious she takes the tall order of teaching 1st graders! Not only are we grateful for Ms. Gonzales and all the support she has given our child, but the Carpenter Administration as well. We feel heard, supported, and that our child's voice matters!
Mark Collins of Westview Middle School (via: Susan K.) Thank you for recognizing students for their hard work and keeping parents in the loop! We don’t hear enough good about what goes on in the classroom but you are doing your part. Thanks for the feedback and keep encouraging our kids!

Ms. Gurra Logan of P.E.S (via: Gregg and rosemary) She is helpful, caring and a good teacher. She is attentive and always share info about your child!
Brittany Johney of Rowe Lane Elementary, 3rd Grade (via:Ginger S.) Mrs. Johney has made my daughter’s 3rd grade school year a delight and a truly joyful experience. Mrs. Johney’s enthusiasm for teaching, her deep understanding of the needs particular to each student (especially those who are neurodiverse) is a real blessing and she is a major asset to Pfisd and Rowe Lane. My daughter went from fearing and avoiding writing and language arts, to it being her favorite subject over the last two months. She reads for fun now, and recited two poems from memory that Mrs. Johney taught the class. The positive energy and optimism that Mrs. Johney brings is what every parents hopes for their child to have and we are so grateful for it!
Lonisa Browning of Brookhollow ES (via: KT) She brings a great balance of humor and compassion into her classroom, her students adore her and she is very in tune with her students’ needs. Her projects are fun and engaging for the kids. She’s amazing all around.
Jessica Brown of Kelly Lane Middle School, ELA teacher (via: Tiana R) Ms. Brown is an amazing teacher and is so sweet and great. She always makes me feel welcome. She is so funny and overall just great to be around. I am so lucky to have her as my teacher.

Kendra Towery (via: Peyton B) There a teacher Even after school when they're not on the clock or anything, they still help me get through hard times and they're just a good teacher overall.
Mr. Nick Stow of Texas History-Cele Middle School (via: Stacey F) My daughter shared how much she's enjoying Mr. Stow's class. She says, "his story telling really helps me to learn". I'd like to thank him for being a teacher my child brags about when she's at home; you are making a difference in her life and I'm certain many other kids too!
Mrs. Eskew and Ms. Loving of Windermere Elementary (via: Rebekah R.)I just wanted to say a big thank you to Mrs. Eskew and Ms. Loving for helping my daughter Heidi have a great Kindergarten experience. Mrs. Eskew is there to help Heidi in the morning when she needs her the most. Then, when Mrs Eskew was sick Ms. Loving jumped in to help my daughter. They are both amazing teachers who obviously make such a difference with children.
