BERNIE’S BOOK BANK DONATION DRIVE
The D303 donation drive for Bernie’s Book Bank will be held for two weeks, April 1-12, 2024, at all D303 schools. Please consider bringing in new and gently used children’s books for birth through 6th grade to one of the D303 schools during the donation drive. Students, parents, or staff may place books in the collection bins located in the front hallway. D303’s goal for the 2024 donation drive is 20,000 books. Every book will help us reach our goal. For more information, please watch this 90 second video or read this FAQ document. This QR code can be used to access the tax receipt.
Please check that the books you are sending fit the following criteria:
5 Essentials Survey
Take the 5 Essentials Survey to let us know how we are doing as a school. It is available in Spanish and English. You are encouraged to take the survey for each of your children, even if they attend the same school.
Please be sure to put in Kane County as our county so you can find Fox Ridge. Also, please read the questions and possible answers carefully as they sometimes mix up the "importance" of the responses.
For more information about the survey click here.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Family Workshop
Workshop: Anatomy of a Meltdown Presented by Jennifer Rosinia
It's easy to get overwhelmed, frustrated and even angry when your child is having a meltdown. Join us to learn what happens to the body when feeling overwhelmed, under attack, hijacked and helpless and how you can help to support your child during this difficult times. Jennifer Rosinia will review the body's stress response system and help parents recognize sensory processing challenges. She'll describe and discuss 3 stages of a meltdown, beginning with triggers, signs and symptoms that a meltdown may be starting, and share strategies parents can use to prevent and intervene at each stage.
All STAR NET workshops & webinars are free of charge. Funding assistance to attend training events is available to families of young children with IEPs. For more information visit Family Fellowship Info or our website at https://starnetregionii.org
This is a FREE, in person event on Wednesday, March 13, from 6 - 7:30 PM in Addison.
Dr Rosinia will present this in English, but there will be a translator and headsets available for those who wish to hear the information in Spanish.
2024-25 School Year Updates
Kindergarten Enrollment Through March 22
Children are kindergarten eligible for 2024-25 if they turn five on or before September 1, 2024. If you are selecting All Day Kindergarten for your child note that no fees are due at this time and fee waivers are available (eligibility based on income). New this year is NO Kindergarten registration fee. Enrolling your child now ensures you will receive information about future events from your child's new school.
The District 303 Board has approved boundary maps for elementary, middle, and high schools. Maps are effective with the 2024-2025 school year beginning this fall. The Board's decision completes a process that began last fall to reduce school overcrowding and help to ensure equitable learning experiences across the District. District 303 had contracted with demographer RSP & Associates to create concept maps based on Board-approved guiding principles and community feedback. Please see the parent notice from Superintendent Gordon to learn more and review the approved maps.
Early Childhood Department at Haines Next School Year
Our Early Childhood Department will be moving to a renovated Haines Center for the 2024-25 school year. This includes all of our classrooms and programming currently at Fox Ridge. Construction begins at Haines Center in March 2024. We will be sharing the Haines building with Compass Academy and construction plans include distinct, separate and secure spaces for our preschoolers and the high school students during student attendance hours.
2024-25 Start & End Schedules
Hours for our next school year have been released which include a change at Early Childhood.

Dress for the Weather
Outdoor play continues throughout all the seasons at Fox Ridge, weather permitting, and is an important part of our curriculum. Classrooms go outside as long as conditions are safe to do so and the temperature, including wind-chill, is above 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Please be sure your preschooler has clothes appropriate for outdoor play daily. If weather prohibits outdoor play (e.g., raining, too cold, or hazardous conditions like ice present) classrooms use one of our indoor motor areas. If you are in need of a warmer coat for your child please contact Tricia Sabathne, Child and Family Educator, at tricia.sabathne@d303.org
