A Note From KPBSD: Spring Break Survey
The KPBSD Calendar Committee recently met to set the KPBSD calendar for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. As part of this process, the committee is seeking input from KPBSD stakeholders and the community regarding the timing of Spring Break. To balance the number of instructional days in the third and fourth quarters, the committee is recommending adjusting Spring Break to the third week of March. Traditionally, Spring Break begins during the second week of March and coincides with the UAA Spring Break.
Your feedback is important to us! Please take a moment to complete this brief two-question survey. The survey will close on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
Title 1 Corner
Happy Fall, Families!
As the leaves begin to change, so too are our students as they grow in their learning journeys. This year, KPBSD Title I continues to focus on family engagement, recognizing that when families are involved, students are more motivated, have higher self-esteem, and experience greater success in school. Your support helps students value education, build confidence, and become successful learners.
Our Title I program has already begun working with students, focusing on key areas such as reading fluency, mastering letter blends, journaling, and strengthening math skills like math facts. We're seeing great progress in these areas and are excited to continue helping students meet their goals.
We are happy to share that our Annual Title I Meeting and Game Night on September 27th from 7-8:30pm was a success! Attendees learned about what Title I is all about, including how the tutoring program and Title I funds benefit students, families, and the community. Afterward, families enjoyed refreshments, board games, and Capture the Flag. It was wonderful to see everyone playing together and having fun!
Thank you for being an essential part of your child’s success. Together, we can make this school year one of growth and achievement!
Community Council: Calling All Parents!
Community Council is looking for a room parent for your student's class.
What is a room parent?
Your job would be to send personal communications from the Council to the other parents and guardians in your assigned grade about volunteer opportunities for upcoming events.
What does this look like?
You will receive a class list and instructions three times per school year. We ask you to send out communication via text or phone call. One of our officers will send you texts with a Sign Up Genius link and a suggested word track for you to copy and paste if you want to.
Which events need my help?
The first event is the Fall Carnival, our main fundraiser, and it is coming up VERY soon! The second time you will reach out to enlist volunteers is in the spring for our talent show and auction. Finally, all parents/guardians are asked to help provide potluck-style teacher/staff lunches during teacher/staff appreciation week.
THIS IS A JOB YOU CAN DO FROM YOUR COUCH!
Please help us, we can't make our incredible events happen without room parents.
Please call or text Tiana @ (907) 317-7444 ASAP
THANK YOU!!

The Fall Carnival is sponsored by Community Council and is 1 of 2 major fundraisers for the year. Plus, it's a lot of fun! Parents will be receiving a phone call from their class parent representative asking them to help at the Carnival. Your time commitment can be as short as one hour. Please consider helping with this great event. We couldn't do it with out you all!!
BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY AND AVOID THE LONG LINE!
