The Weekly Update

My name is Joey James, and I am proud to serve as the School Counselor for Council Jr./Sr. High School. My mission is to help students uncover their passions and create meaningful paths to success, whether through college, a skilled trade, or another unique journey.
With over 20 years of experience in education and school counseling, I have developed a passion for guiding students in college and career readiness, vocational and trades program development, and social-emotional growth. I am particularly passionate about vocational and technical education, collaborating closely with local high schools, community colleges, and industry partners to connect students with Dual Credit and Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities. Helping students discover their strengths and align them with rewarding professions is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.
I am certified in TBRI Caregiving, QPR Training, and suicide risk assessment and believe in fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where all students can thrive. My counseling approach focuses on building meaningful relationships and equipping students with the confidence and tools they need to succeed in their chosen paths.
When I am not at school, I love spending time with my wife and our three adult children exploring Idaho’s breathtaking outdoors. As a family, we enjoy skiing in the winter and floating Idaho’s beautiful rivers during the summer months. I have also been a professional photographer for 18 years, capturing everything from the stunning landscapes of the Northwest to senior portraits, weddings, and sports teams.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to support our students, helping them grow and prepare for bright and promising futures.
