Join us at Johnny's pizza next Wednesday for our first Spirit Night of the school year! For those new to this - Spirit Night is when a local business hosts our families and gives a percentage of sales back to our school's PTO. It's a great way to connect with other Wilson Creek families, grab something to eat and help us reach our fundraising goals.

Curriculum Night for K-5 will be held on Wednesday, August 28 from 5:30-6:45pm.

Curriculum Night is an opportunity to come see your child's teachers, experience the classroom environment and learn about the curriculum your child will be learning this year.

In the past we split grade levels across multiple evenings which required parents with more than one child to attend multiple nights. This year, for your convenience, we are having all grade levels meet on the same night, but we need your help! To avoid parking challenges, we are asking people to arrive early and park at Northview HS (10625 Parsons Rd. Johns Creek, GA 30097) once our parking lot is full. We will have a shuttle running continuously between Northview and Wilson Creek for the duration of the event. The shuttle will pick up outside the Northview HS gym (which is where our childcare option is also being held) and will come to the Wilson Creek bus lane outside our cafeteria.

Curriculum Night is an adult only event. The Northview BETA Club will be offering childcare at the high school during this time. Please plan for childcare so the adults who come to Curriculum Night can listen and ask questions with limited distractions.

Our second session is shorter because it will only consist of the teacher and grade level specific information. We will not repeat the school wide communications.

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

• 4:00pm- Childcare Opens at Northview
• 4:45pm Bus transport from Northview begins
• 5:00-5:30 Doors Open
• ESOL Parent meeting in Media Center

• 5:30-6:15 -Session 1 -In Homerooms

6:15-6:25 Transition

• 6:25-6:45 – Session 2 – Where do I go now?

-Visit your child’s block 2 teacher (4th and 5th grades only)

-Visit another child’s teacher (specifically one of your own)

-Visit Special Areas Teachers in the Gym

-Hop on the bus back to Northview

Childcare at Northview is only available for current Wilson Creek students. If you have a child that is not yet school aged, you will need to find another childcare option for the evening. Thank you for being proactive about this.

In support of our school nutrition program offered by Fulton County, we will not allow outside vendor food inside our cafeteria. Students can of course pack a lunch from home, and we will not be inspecting these, but we do not allow items from a restaurant, including fast food in our cafeteria. If students come to school with outside vendor food, or if it is dropped off, they will not be allowed to bring it into the cafeteria. Thank you for understanding.

Student Success Skills are a set of standards that will be taught in all schools, to all students, by all teachers throughout the school year. The attachment below tells you more about this curriculum and how you can support it at home.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Spirit Wear distribution:

We're meeting Friday 8/16 at 8am to sort and distribute school spirit shirts. Please let us know if you can stop by to help!

Co-Treasurer: Our Treasurers are members of the PTO Board, and manage our funds. The treasurer helps develop the budget, writes checks for purchases and reimbursements, tracks income and spending, makes financial reports, and organizes the books for annual audit.
*Accounting experience is extremely helpful, yet not required. We currently have a Treasurer and are looking for someone to help alongside.

Shadowing Secretary:

Our Secretary is a PTO Board member. This person will work alongside the current Board Secretary to take meeting notes once a month and organize and share with members. Must have excellent English and be detail-oriented. Current Secretary is in her final year at Wilson Creek, so this role is to shadow her for this year and take over the following.

This year, we are expanding from a STEM special area class to CTAE. We are excited because making this switch brought us thousands of dollars of equipment and technology provided by Fulton County Schools. Take a look at the document below to learn more about this change.

For 2nd - 5th graders, this program is designed to encourage kids to try different sports and make new friends! A portion of the proceeds benefit our PTO. Price increases Friday 8/16 and there are limited spots.

The Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct is now ready for parents to review and sign in Infinite Campus. All parents and students (over 10 years old) MUST sign this form found within their INFINITE CAMPUS PARENT/STUDENT PORTAL ACCOUNT.

Here is a (link) with instructions on how to complete the Acknowledgment of Receipt Form. Please complete this by August 16. If you have not set up a Parent Portal Account, directions can be found in the Frequently Needed Links Section at the bottom of the newsletter.

Cub Scout Pack 1000:

Cub Scout Pack 1000 will have an information and sign-up meeting on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church’s youth garage, 10950 Bell Road, Johns Creek.

We know how much parents love to be able to come and eat lunch with their children and we will continue that practice after the first few weeks of school We want our students to have time to learn the rules and routines of the school year during the first few weeks as well as have lunch time to make connections with their fellow classmates.
