There is no school on Tuesday, November 5th.

There is no school Wednesday, November 27th-Friday, November 29th.

As we approach the 50th day of school, I want to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of regular attendance. At this point in the school year, missing 5 or more days is considered chronic absenteeism. Regular attendance is key to your child's success in school, as it helps them stay on track academically and socially. We understand that absences can happen due to illness or family matters, but we encourage you to make school attendance a priority whenever possible.

Our program will begin with a breakfast for Veterans at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria, followed by a family assembly at 9:30 AM. Our K-5 students will sing and our band will perform patriotic music. As part of our tribute, we'll be showing a slideshow of local soldiers and veterans. To include someone in the slideshow, please email a photo and their information to gallimoream@floyd.k12.va.us by November 1st. If you have a Veteran in your family attending the breakfast, please fill out the attached form and return it by October 18th. Let's come together to honor the service and sacrifice of our Veterans. Students and Staff are encouraged to wear red, white ,and blue

Willis Elementary is happy to announce we will be hosting a Thanksgiving lunch for students and families on Friday, November 15th, 2024. The cost for visitors will be $4.00 per meal. This amount needs to be prepaid to the school by Friday, November 8th, 2024. Cash or checks made to Willis Elementary School will be accepted.We do ask that you limit the number of family members to 2 per student. If there are special circumstances please email Ms. Gallimore at gallimoream@floyd.k12.va.us. Visitors should plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to your child’s scheduled lunch time below in order to get checked in. A valid ID is required in order to enter the building. There will be no exceptions to this to ensure the safety of all students. We also ask that you not check out your child after lunch to maximize learning time.

We are proud to be a Title I school, which means we receive federal funding to support our students and enhance their educational experience. This funding allows us to provide additional resources aimed at helping all our students succeed academically. Please see the attached information below regarding Title I.

We are always seeking volunteers to support our annual Title I events. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Smith, our Reading Specialist, at smithal@floyd.k12.va.us.

We are excited to announce that Willis Elementary School will host a Christmas Program on Wednesday, December 4th at 6:00 pm for students in Pre-K-5th grade. Please have your child wear red and green (Santa hats, reindeer antlers, and Christmas jewelry are allowed). Please return the rsvp if your child is planning to participate by Friday, November 8th.

The Book Fair Family Night will also be Wednesday, December 4th from 4:00-6:00, so please join us in the library!
