Field Flash
November 22, 2024
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
As we head into Thanksgiving week, we want to say how grateful we are for your support and partnership. Working as a collaborative school-home team helps all your children, our students, to be more successful! We hope that you have a relaxing week with your family, and a happy Thanksgiving! We look forward to seeing children back on Monday, December 2nd.
When your children return, please be sure that they bring the appropriate winter weather gear (snow pants, boots, warm coats, etc), as we do go outside for recess most days. Please be sure these items are labeled with your child's name.
A few reminders:
- There is no parking on the east side of Elmore during arrival or dismissal. This week, a neighbor reported that their car was hit twice this week - five times in the last year during arrival and dismissal. Police have been notified and will begin issuing tickets to drivers who idle there illegally during arrival and dismissal. Please help us be good neighbors!
- Winter has arrived - please send your child(ren) to school with winter weather gear.
- Please remember that there is no supervision before or after school on the playground or blacktop. Children should be supervised by a grown-up.
- Please be sure you call the main office as early in the day as possible if your child is not taking the bus home.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Dr. Courtney Goodman
Principal

Join Us At An Upcoming Parent U
Join D64 and Dr. Devorah Heitner for a discussion on shifting the conversation from just “internet safety” to helping our kids understand who they are. The event is for parents/guardians and will be on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6 pm inside the Hendee Rooms at the Jefferson Early Childhood Center (8200 W Greendale Ave, Niles). Share your Thoughts on our Middle Schools
Elementary, Early Childhood, and Middle School Parents,
District 64 staff---administrators, teachers, and support personnel--are currently reviewing the middle school structure, schedule, and programming. In order to make better informed decisions, we are asking for feedback from parents or caregivers. Please think about your child's current or future middle school experience and offer insight into the topics within the questions. Please keep the mission and vision statement in mind as you complete this survey.
Vision Statement:
District 64 middle schools will provide a safe and nurturing environment where everyone is inspired to learn, collaborate, grow, and care.
Mission Statement:
The middle school community of District 64 will foster a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment. The community will value diversity, student growth, social emotional learning, and respect for self and others. Staff, families, and community members will work collaboratively to empower middle school students through exploration, choice, and strong relationships while providing rigorous and differentiated curriculum that includes real-world learning experiences and extracurricular opportunities.
You can find the link here. This survey will close on Sunday, November 24th. We thank you for your time!
To gather your feedback, we're using a tool called ThoughtExchange. All of our voices matter, so your participation is crucial and valued. You'll be asked to respond to survey questions. In addition, you'll be asked to answer one open-ended question, consider and assign stars to some of the ideas shared by others (20 to 30 is ideal), and learn what's important to the group.
Your responses, thoughts and stars are confidential. You can come back as often as you'd like to participate and, in fact, we ask that you do come back to star some of the new ideas shared since you first participated. The ratings will help us understand the most important areas to focus on.
If you need technical help, please call ThoughtExchange at 1-800-361-9027 ext. 4 or email help@thoughtexchange.com.
Holiday Sing Information
Holiday Sing, the annual winter performance for all Field students, is around the corner! In order to accommodate the number of students enrolled at Field, we will have four performances on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Similar to past years, the time of your child’s performance corresponds with the first letter of your child’s last name and grade level. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please attend the morning performances if your child’s last name begins with A-L.
Please attend the afternoon performances if your child’s last name begins with M-Z.
9:15 AM – Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade
10:30 AM – 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 5th Grade
1:00 PM – Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade
2:15 PM – 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 5th Grade
Please note that space is still limited in our North Gym, so please keep that in mind when inviting additional family members to attend. On the day of the performances, all attendees will enter through door #3 (the 5th grade door - the furthest north door on Wisner). We will open the doors about 10 minutes before the performance time, and all attendees will exit the gym after each performance. Please note people do line up outside the doors in advance of the performance times (sometimes 15-30 minutes in advance!). Each performance runs about 30 minutes with each grade level performing for about 10 minutes.
