Mid Week Update!
Spicewood Elementary
Hello Spicewood Community,
I know the newsletter has been lengthy but there are some important sign ups that I wanted to make sure everyone has seen as deadlines are approaching. I promise this is a very condensed version of some important events only!
I also want to share some safety tips from the City of Austin regarding Trick or Treating if your family chooses to participate in celebrating.
Reminder that there is no school on Friday for students.
Have a great day everyone!
One more thing! If you have not joined PTA- please consider doing so today! We are so close to meeting our next goal which we need to do by tomorrow. There is a goal of 1 adult per student signed up as a PTA member and we are almost there! BECOME A SWE PTA MEMBER TODAY
Honoring Veterans in Our Community
Our plan is to collect some basic information and a picture to prepare a slideshow to be shown throughout the campus in November.
Please fill out this Google Form to have your information as part of our presentation. Please fill out the form by November 4th to participate.
UIL Opportunity- Deadline Extended
Did you know that Spicewood is the reigning UIL Champions for the Westwood Learning Community?
We are looking for interested students to help us defend our title at the UIL meet on February 1st.
There are available events for students in grades 2nd-5th. If your child is interested in participating, they must commit to 6 practices and to be available if chosen to compete at the meet on February 1st. Practice dates and times will be shared to the group after sign ups.
Students may join up to 2 events as long as the events are not in conflict time slots at the meet. Below is the schedule to check for overlapping events.
If your child would like to participate, please fill out this Google Form by our deadline of November 4th. This is a hard deadline so our coaches can prepare information for teams to begin practice.
Before signing up, it is important that your child is interested in the selected event and will be a willing participant!
Coaches will send out practice dates and times after sign ups.
Reflections- Deadline Extended to Nov. 4th
Halloween Safety Tips
Be alert and aware that more pedestrians will be on the streets during trick-or-treating hours.
Slow down and scan the road: Stick to posted speed limits (or slower on Halloween)
Watch for trick-or-treaters in unexpected places. Children may be unaware of traffic and dart into the street unexpectedly.
And if you are out with your children trick-or-treating, please remember to always walk on sidewalks or paths when available, and to cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks.
Have a safe and spooky Halloween!
