North Pembroke Elementary School
Weekly Update-June 7, 2019
Thank you for a great year!
As the 2018-19 school year winds down, we hope that you will take a moment to share your kudos for PPS staff: bus drivers, custodians, nurses, maintenance staff, paraprofessionals, principals, teachers, and secretaries. Did anyone go the extra mile for you or your student? Maybe there's one person you can always count on for a friendly greeting. Do you know an unsung hero who deserves to be recognized?
Hearing your compliments will mean so much to our dedicated staff as we head into summer!
Please let us know who made your day... or week... or year! Your message will be shared with the staff member, their supervisor, the Superintendent, and School Committee.

Coffee with the Principal
Good Afternoon North Pembroke Families,
I am excited to share with you the news about our new principal at North Pembroke Elementary School. Erica Nali will be joining our staff on July 1 as the new principal at North. Erica comes to us from Abington where she has been an assistant principal at Abington Middle School (grades 5-8) for the past 3 years. Before joining administration Erica was a special education teacher in both Milton and New Bedford as well as an experienced behaviorist for students ranging from age 3-22. In addition to her role at Abington Middle School, Erica is also an adjunct professor at UMASS Boston in their Masters and CAGS programs for Educational Administration.
Erica will be here at North on Monday, June 10th for the day to have a chance to meet staff, work with Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Simmons as well as meet any families that are able to drop by. For parents able to drop in, we will host a coffee with the “new” principal from 12-1, and then again right after school.
In addition to Monday the 10th, I have asked Erica to identify a few days over the summer where she will be hosting coffee with the principal, those dates will be July 23 & 24 as well as August 20 & 21. As these dates become closer we will send out a reminder to families with times and location. In addition to these formal opportunities, Erica will be around all summer getting up to speed and prepping for the start of the school year, so if you are in the neighborhood, drop in any time.
If you are unable to stop in, but would still like to get in touch with Erica, her email address Erica.Nali@pembrokek12.org, will be up and running by Friday morning.
I also want to take a minute and thank Mr. Murphy for all he has done in his 7 years at North Pembroke to make it that amazing school and community that it is. Though we will miss him greatly at North Pembroke, I am excited to have him leading Hobomock Elementary School for the upcoming school year.
Again, please join me in both welcoming Ms. Nali and thanking Mr. Murphy.
Sincerely,
Erin Obey
Superintendent

On Wednesday night, we had our last NPES PTO meeting of the year! We were so excited to announce Deborah Miranda for Volunteer of the Year and Caulene Lynch for Years of Service. We thank you both for all that you have done for our students and community! We are also so sad to see Mr. Murphy move to Hobomock. We have enjoyed working with him for the past 7 years. Hobomock is so lucky to gain such a great leader! Tonight was a great way to end the year and celebrate. Thank you to our teachers for the amazing appetizers!! See you in August!
Thank you!
The PTO would like also to thank ALL of the hardworking chairs and volunteers for their amazing work this past school year. We would not be able to have such amazing events for students, staff, and families without you!
Current chairs, please let us know if you would like to continue with your events, or if you are ready to move on! We are also looking to fill chairs for the following events next year: Spirit Wear, Baystate Textiles, Box Tops, and Science Fair.
