I'm thrilled to be writing to you today as a newly appointed board member of the Chisago Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Since moving to Chisago City in June of last year, I've been completely captivated by the warmth and spirit of this close-knit community.

Immersing myself in the rich Swedish heritage has been a true delight. From exploring charming storefronts to attending local festivals, it's clear to see Chisago Lakes' Scandinavian roots proudly woven into the fabric of the Chisago Lakes area. Getting to know my neighbors and the wonderful local business owners has been a rewarding experience, and I've truly enjoyed taking advantage of the year-round activities our beautiful area offers.

Speaking of activities, summer is just around the corner, bringing with it a bounty of things to do! Strawberry lovers can head to Pleasant Valley Orchard for pick-your-own fun starting this month and lasting through July. Music lovers won't want to miss the free Wednesday night concerts at the Band Shell in Lindstrom.

For a taste of Swedish culture, be sure to mark your calendars for the Midsommardagen Swedish Festival on June 22nd at the Gammelgarden Museum of Scandia. This free event promises an arts and crafts fair, lively music, and engaging activities for all ages.

Looking ahead, planning is well underway for the Chamber Community Golf Tournament at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course on August 15th. Don't miss your chance to win a brand new 2023 golf cart or $1000 cash by purchasing a raffle ticket ($20 each)! We’re still actively seeking sponsors to join us in making this event a success.

• Art in Action! We are excited to announce that registration is now open for Festival Theatre's Art in Action Youth Theatre Camps for SUmmer 2024. These week long camps, running from June 10-August 19th, are perfect for youth aftes pre-K through 12th grade and will be held in St. Croix Falls, WI; Frederic, MN; and Chisago Lakes, MN. Each camp provides hands-on theatre activities including, storytelling, designing and constructiong backdrops, and performing original plays. Under the guidance of professional artisit and educator Quinnie Rodman, campers will engage in fun theatrical games that develop their voice, body, and imagination. Registrations is now open! ! • St. Croix Vaudeville Workshops/Auditions (at the Festival Theatre Black Box) Sign- up here. Festival Theatre is excited to announce our upcoming Vaudeville Workshops, offering a unique opportunity for participants of all ages to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of vaudeville performance. Through these workshops participants are encouraged to bring their own act where professional vaudeville performers will offer personalized feedback.

• June 10th 5:30pm-7:30pm (ages 5-10)

A few Father's Day weekend options on the St. Croix River!

• Absolutely Elvis by Todd Anderson, Friday, June 14th 7pm-9pm This includes live musical performance, excursion, and cash bar. Soft Drinks, lemonade, sandwhiches, and light snacks are also available for purchase onboard. Come early and enjoy our outdoor patio next to our boat stand, and have a beverage or light snack prior to boarding. We will have theatre-style seating for this event. *Boards 30 minutes prior to departing. Click here for information!

• Father's Day Excursion, Sunday June 16th: 11am, 1pm, 3pm. 80 minute and 45 minute at 5pm. A trip on an authentic paddlewheel riverboat is a delightful wat to spend the day with your father. Upon boarding, all participants will receive a beer or a root beer to enjoy while taking in the beauty of the River. Our snack bar serves beer, wine, soda, lemonade, chips, candy, and sandwhiches. Chisago County Parks & Trails would like to invite you to join us on Friday, June 7th to celebrate the opening of two new trail assets in Chisago County. Here’s a quick agenda for the day:

• 10:00 AM – Meet at Ki Chi Saga Park to explore the new Mountain Bike Trail (Playground Shelter at 29061 Glader Blvd, Lindstrom)
• 10:45 AM – Ribbon Cutting
• 12:30 – Meet at The Sunrise Prairie Regional Trail Head for refreshments (43567 Forest Blvd, Harris)
• 12:45 – Ribbon Cutting

If you’re interested in walking or biking on the newly extended Sunrise Prairie Regional trail, we encourage you to park at Roger Johnson Memorial Park at 6547 410th Street in North Branch and ride north to meet us at the ribbon cutting at 12:45. That stretch of trail is 2.6 miles one way.

Chisago County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership Community Partner Award Grant Funding Now Available!

Community Partner Award grant applications are now open and will be accepted while funds are available or until July 15, 2024. Workplaces, schools, healthcare, and community organizations are able to apply for funding to support healthy eating, active living, commercial tobacco cessation or well-being! Learn more about the Chisago County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP). If interested on how SHIP can support you or your organization, fill out the Project Interest Form to connect about your project proposal.
