Waikīkī School Parent Bulletin - May 30, 2024
As the school year comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our Mindful School ʻohana. It has been a wonderful year of learning, growth, and fun, and we are proud of all that our students have accomplished.
Please let your children know that we will be disabling summer access to their Waikiki School Google account unless they are enrolled in Summer Hub or ESY. For students promoted to 6th grade, their Waikiki School Google account will be permanently disabled July 1. Please encourage our fifth grade students to transfer any documents that they would like to keep before that date.
We wish you and your family a happy, safe, and enjoyable summer break! Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your time together:
Encourage Reading: Keep those young minds active by encouraging regular reading. Check out the Hawaii State Library Systemʻs Summer Reading Challenge and let your child pick out books that interest them. Reading together as a family can be a fun and bonding experience.
Stay Active: Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. Plan family activities like hiking, biking, camping or simply playing in the park. Physical activity is important for everyone’s well-being.
Explore and Learn: Use the summer months to explore new interests and hobbies. Visit museums, zoos, or nature centers. Engaging in educational activities can make learning fun and interactive.
Stay Safe: Safety is paramount. Remind your children about the importance of wearing helmets when biking, using sunscreen, and staying hydrated. Always supervise water activities closely.
Keep a Routine: While summer is a time for relaxation, maintaining a routine can help ease the transition back to school. Encourage a regular bedtime and some structure to the day.
Family Time: Take this opportunity to enjoy quality time together. Whether it's a family vacation, game night, or cooking together, these moments create lasting memories.
We look forward to seeing everyone back in the fall, ready for another exciting school year. Students first day back will be August 5, 2024. Until then, have a wonderful summer filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of adventures.
Sincerely,
Ryan Kusuda
Principal
