Mark your calendars...the mobile dentist will be here on April 4th! Registration forms were sent home with your student a few weeks ago. If you need an additional form, please contact the office. You can also register online by clicking here.
Please take advantage of this opportunity to have your child's dental health assessed by a professional right here at school. We believe that by promoting good dental hygiene habits early on, we can set our children up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Memorable Read Across America Night
We extend our gratitude to all the parents who joined us for our recent Read Across America event! Your enthusiastic participation truly made the event a success, and we couldn't have done it without your support. Your presence not only encouraged a love for reading but also fostered a sense of community spirit within our school.
We deeply appreciate your commitment to your child's education and your dedication to promoting literacy. Together, we are nurturing a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
Mark your calendars ... NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, APRIL 8th
Get ready to witness a cosmic spectacle that's out of this world! On Monday, April 8th, the universe is treating us to a celestial show in the form of a mesmerizing eclipse. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to marvel at this extraordinary event, Field Local Schools has decided to take a cosmic break. That's right – NO SCHOOL on April 8th!
Take this rare chance to gather with friends and family, don your eclipse glasses, and witness the dance of the sun, moon, and Earth. It's a day to embrace the wonders of the cosmos and celebrate the magic that unfolds above us.
Please mark your calendars and join us in taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of the universe. Regular classes will resume on the following day.
May your eclipse experience be filled with awe and wonder!
Class Assignments 2024-2025
Discussions regarding class placements for the 2024-2025 school year are currently underway. We want to assure parents and guardians that our staff takes great care in placing students in an appropriate learning environment that will best meet their needs.
If you have any specific educational concerns for your child, please address them in writing and send them to the office, attention to Mrs. Bookman. Please include any learning environments that you feel may work well for your child. We do not accept or consider requests for specific teachers, as we strive to create heterogeneous classes with a balance of genders and student needs.
We use a research-based system that is proven to promote the most growth for all students. Therefore, it is essential that all letters are received in the office no later than Friday, April 26, 2024, to have your concerns addressed. Any notification received after this date will not be accepted.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work towards creating a supportive and successful learning environment for all students.
Upcoming Testing Dates
We want to inform our parents and guardians that our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will be taking the Ohio State Tests in April and early May. As we strive to create the best testing environment for our students, we kindly ask that you avoid scheduling any appointments for your child on these dates. Research shows that students perform better when taking the test on the designated testing day, rather than during a make-up session.
Below you will find the testing dates for each grade level to help you plan accordingly:

Leadership Roles for April
A Friendly Reminder: Check the Lost & Found When You Visit Our School
We're thrilled to welcome you to our school, whether it's for a parent-teacher conference, a special event, or just to spend some time with your child's class. As you explore our wonderful learning environment, we wanted to take a moment to remind you about an important stop you can make while you're here - our Lost and Found!
Our Lost and Found is a treasure trove of forgotten items, from jackets and lunch boxes to water bottles and notebooks. Sometimes, the smallest and most valuable items end up there, waiting to be reunited with their owners. We encourage you to check the Lost and Found area located near the gym while you're visiting.
We also recommend labeling your child's items with their name and contact information to make it easier for us to return lost items promptly.

Counselor's Corner - a Note from Miss Livers
Anxiety in Children
Anxiety, there are many different things the parents and guardians can do to help their child when they are feeling anxious. Your student is not alone, childhood anxiety has been becoming more common with over 4.4 million children from ages 3-17 being diagnosed with anxiety. Here are some things you can do to support your child when they are feeling anxious:
- Remind your child that their feelings are valid and okay. Give them time and space to share how they feel without judgment.
- Set a time each day/week to talk about their worries.
- Help your child focus on what they can control.
Help your child develop ways to cope with and manage their anxiety, such as:
- Deep breathing
- Talking to you or another adult
- Journaling or drawing
- Focusing on what they can control
- Using positive self-talk
- Exercising

Birthday Treats
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Student Medications
If you have medications that you need to have at school for your child, DO NOT send them to school with your child on the bus. Please bring them to school. The office is open from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Please call the school if you have questions.
Suffield CARES
Suffield CARES helps provide “short-term emergency needs” to families in Suffield. If you are in danger of having your electric or heat terminated, being evicted or have other emergency needs, call Mrs. Bookman at school or Chief Rasnick at (330)628-9240.
