Senior Night
I want to start off by saying how proud I am of our students and the school spirit they are showing at school, at volleyball games and the football game on Friday night. It is great to see our students having fun in a good way and making memories that will last a lifetime. School spirit, or a lack thereof, is contagious and right now the contagion is spreading.
Here are some highlights for this week:
Impact 4 Life
We were proud to have our AgriScience teacher Mr. Caleb Beason speak to our students at our weekly Impact 4 Life meeting. Students attending this meeting have increased each week. The meetings happen prior to school on Wednesday mornings. Each week a speaker is invited to provide a message of hope and inspiration to our students and staff.
Getting College and Career Ready:
Miss McConnell spent the week doing "minute meetings" with seniors and juniors to find out what stage our students were in when it comes to making post-secondary decisions. She also informed them of scholarship opportunities that may be available to them.
Patriotic Pep!
Our student body school spirit and patriotism was on full display Friday at school and the pep rally. Our students and staff decked out in their Red, White, and Blue! Hudson Hutcheson, Easton Hutcheson, Saddie Hill and Reed Jackson clearly won the day but Coach Trevor Allison
Football: What A Game!
Our varsity football team won a four overtime thriller Friday night beating Vinemont 44-42. Phil
Our junior varsity team beat Haleyville 8-6 on Monday night. Phil Campbell scored all 44 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. The game ended 16-16 in regulation and the Bobcats trailed 8-0 for the majority of the game.
Also, I just want to give a big shoutout to our awesome students! No doubt, our students were a big (cheerleaders, band and student section) played a huge role in helping our team win the fourth quarter and overtime. (On a side note, it appeared we have a whole bunch of Swifties by the way all of our students, and some players got in on the Taylor Swift song "Shake It Off" leading into overtime.)
Volleyball: Our varsity volleyball team picked up big wins this week over Shoals Christian and Belgreen 2-0. Our junior varsity team beat Shoals 2-1 and our junior high beat Tharptown and Shoals 2-0.
Cross Country: Our cross country team ran in the Chickasaw Invitational this week. All of our runners improved their times from their first race last weekend.
Strike Up The Band! Ten members of the Bobcat Marching Band participated in the "Marching Band Extravaganza" at UNA on Saturday at halftime of the Lions game.
ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS: Although we lost the game, according to the AHSAA, last week's game versus Hamilton was the eighth most combined yards for two teams in a game (1,192- Hamilton with 620 and Phil Campbell with 572) in Alabama high school football history.
Have A Great Week,
