Courageous
Courageous Spartan Seniorss will courageously take their "Next Step." Spartan Seniors will "next step" involves attending top colleges and universities, and pursuing careers that will improve our communities.
Hardworking
Hardworking Spartans have joined the "Iron Spartans" by increasing 500 pounds of total weight from last year during the off season. Champions are made through hard work during the off season.
Uplifting
Uplifting Spartans, get your Prom Tickets while you can. Remember that you have to get cleared prior to purchasing your ticket. This year's Prom promises to be an uplifting celebration of all your hard work.
Responsible
Responsible Spartans from Beach Volleyball completed a successful Spring Season. They competed against schools from across Southern California and made Schurr proud. Great work!

Gratitude: Thank you to Sandra Gutierrez for adding so much uplifting spirit for our staff. We appreciate your continuous communication through Staff Club. From birthdays, to raffles, to NCAA competitions, to cake days, to so much uplifting communication. Thank you for continuously bringing us together to break bread, have fun, and create an uplifting community for our staff.
Gratitude: Thank you to Daniel Gonzalez and Beginning Theater for their exemplary presentation of Beauty and the Beast. Schurr's thespians dazzled their audience with their critical thinking, collaboration, and communication as they created a memorable evening for the audience and themselves. Thank you for making Schurr shine.
Gratitude: Thank you for supportively greeting students and each other when you first interact. That small moment can make a student's and person day. A "hello, ____" or "good morning, ____" goes a long way to create a safe, positive learning culture. Thank you for your uplifting Spartan spirit.

Attendance Rate: Our latest attendance rate was 93.67%. Please continue to go out of your way to show your students your supportive, uplifting spirit. Let's work hard to keep our attendance rate above 95%, our school safe, and our spirit positive. Please greet students with your uplifting Spartan Spirit and engaging 4Cs learning environments. Remind them that they are loved at Schurr. Thank you all for making Schurr special.
Academic Awards Assembly (May 15, 5:00 - 6:30): We will have our Second Annual Academic Awards Assembly on Thursday, May 15th. Please join us in celebrating students who are excelling academically as supportive collaborators, courageous communicators, and hardworking critical thinkers. We appreciate everyone's respectful and responsible citizenship.
Advanced Placement (May 5 - May 16): Many of our students will be taking AP Exams for the next few weeks. We will send out which students to excuse for the days that they are taking those exams. We will let those students do a quiet activity before or after the test in our cafeteria on the days the students are taking their AP. Thank you all for your support.
Discover MUSD: Bell Gardens High School will sponsor MUSD's annual Discover MUSD celebration, which will coincide with a celebration of the Arts and a Science Fair. The event is scheduled from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
MUSD Leadership Day, Thursday, May 1: Approximately twenty-five Juniors will participate in MUSD's third annual Leadership Day. We will have brief orientation on Tuesday, April 29, at 9:30 for students going to Commerce City Hall. We will have a brief orientation on Wednesday, April 30, at 9:30 for students going to Montebello City Hall. Thank you for your support.
Phone Confiscation: Please inform students that we are confiscating phones from students if they are tardy and/or truant during instructional time using their phones. Thank you for your support.
Schurr Showcase (Thursday, May 15, 5:30 - 7:30): We are looking forward to this year's Schurr Showcase. We will meet in the Big Gym, where we will showcase our core academic courses, our athletic programs, our extra-curricular clubs and our elective classes. We provide an exemplary, well-rounded education for our students. Let's showcase all we do.
Tardy/Truancy Sweeps: Please remind students that we conduct random tardy and truancy sweeps. Please remind them that we take our "cell phone" boxes to our tardy/truancy sweeps. Thank you.
